Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? If you can sleep at night knowing what you did, then fine. I feel bad for you.

Bikes: FrankenBike

You still said some of the parts were high quality/rare when they are in fact, not so. You totally misled the buyer into buying something that was not worth what it really was.

If you were really being fair, you could have worded it like this:

"Up for auction is a pretty average fixed gear conversion with some cheap wheels and tires, and stock parts off the original bike. I don't really know much about Keirin racing, or NJS standards for that matter, but with that being said, I think the bars might be NJS. The cranks may look deceptively rare, but they are in fact not so. Happy bidding!"

Fark, I dunno if I want to start a new thread, I feel a little bad for bdfresh being so dumb about this and posting a thread that blew up in his face. You guys all just message him on eBay. If he gets a bunch of messages, he can come to a conclusion with bdfresh. It really is just a case of two newbs mixing it up and one got burned pretty bad, that is all. But, considering bdfresh was so dishonest, I doubt he will give the guy any of the money back unless there is some sort of threat from Paypal so just keep messaging the buyer.

Message the buyer!

Bikes: tirove

glad you turned a profit, you sleaze. just kidding. sort of.

you got a ****ing sweet nishiki prestige road bike from your dad, and you *******ized it and are trying to sell it for a profit.

you should have just restored it properly and kept the original parts, then let your grandfather do what he would with it. unless he died and left it to you, in which case, you still ruined a nice vintage nishiki.

i know we're supposed to be friends because we have the same scattante, but dude, i had a nishiki that was crushed when an accord hit me and it breaks my heart that someone would convert a prestige just to sell it.

i hate used care salesmen too, so don't take it too personally.

Yes you did dude, you might have been careful on wording but by even including the almighty track words within the paragraph you are putting the image in a buyer's mind that this is what he is getting. You are encouraging the buyer to think he is buying something on the Keirin level. Of course the vets will call you out on it but a new fry who has heard of NJS stuff being valuable but has never seen any NJS bikes will think this is the real deal.

In any sense YOU ARE BAMBOOZLING through word connotation and presumption that a buyer can distinguish your dubious slimy intent to raise search presence instead of what a normal person would think, which is that by using NJS and Keirin in the description the product is related to those words. This isn't fawking legalize, but you would stand no chance in small claims court and even a plea to paypal and/or ebay for fraud will have that $600 promptly removed from your account because the malacious intent is so evident.

tl;dr: you are implying false goods and therefore FRAUD through your so called attempt to increase search hits.

oh, and same thing with "Deep V" dood. the normal connotation on the street is to relate "deep v" to the authentic Velocity rim that goes by that name, NOT the aero rim profile shape. By using the term so coloquillaly in a legally-binding description you are holding yourself accountable for misrepresentation. To make it worse, the newbie buyer would believe that he was getting the real Velocity product if he did not recognize the raised lip or go to photobucket and see the alex stickers.

Too bad some of the parts are rare. I saw the same cranks on my bike just the other day go for something like mid $200's. if take the $250 for the cranks add about $100 for a frame ($350 currently) then you'll add another $200 for the wheels ($550) and then misc. parts is another $50 atleast
what did we end up at? $600!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those alex/formula wheels would not go for $50 used on craigslist.

Actually, I sold a set for $150 last year but they were take-offs from a Bianchi Pista and had never been used. They came with rubber too, I thought it was a pretty good deal for the buyer, no?

Let's not go on a ripfest. Never ascribe evil intent when a simple stupid mistake will explain as well.

I'm going to close this since it really isn't going anywhere but downhill. bd got his butt handed to him, so that's enough, OK?
