My first FG. I think the guy/shop that built it up for me did a pretty good job. Rides nice and smooth . . and almost totally silent. I think this is a keeper.

I'll be changing out the pedals as soon as I can decide on SPDs of Eggbeaters (now I remember why I never looked back after getting Speedplays on my road bike).

Also, I think the stem is a bit short. May be changing it out eventually as well. Everything else will probably remain the same.

Do you have to brake your chain to take your wheel off? I have some slipping issues and considered taking another link out but then I know some cold rainy night when I get a flat 5 miles away from home I will be regretting that.

Those tires have really lasted, huh? I was a bit worried about the "Duro" tires that came on my Rob Roy complete, but they've held up so far. At one point, I was looking to switch them out for something with more flat protection, but then I realized they had never really given me any trouble.

For some reason those tires actually last a while? When I first got my IRO on consignment, I expected they would give out in a month. Five months later, still in ok shape. I dont know, maybe its that cheesy neon green logo :rolleyes:

i recall an older post somewhere in regards to touring with that IRO. did you make that happen, because that sounds awesome.

I just ordered a Mark V. It was rather impulsive, but IRO is having something of a "recession" sale, so I just had to. Cheaper price and free shipping too, my purchase was also partly inspired by seeing some of the really classy builds floating around in this thread. I'm pretty excited to get out and ride, but it's not gonna ship out until July 13th...I guess they're having a vacation.

Yeah I saw that. Not sure it's a vacation as much as he's trying to "catch up" with orders. I'm seriously considering buy a Mark V myself. Question tho, how's the stock FSA headset? Should I spring the extra $100 for the Chris King? I have a CK headset on my 2001 Litespeed roadie and have never had a problem with the headset. TIA

my rob roy. i bought this knowing i wanted a CX frame for my winter bike/all-weather commuter, but it turns out that i hate riding on any tires thicker then 25mm, so it eventually evolved into my daily go-to bike, as pictured:

Ridden mine with the FSA Orbit, seen a full winter season as well.. It's very slightly grindy now, but all things considered it's done well so far - I think I have over 8000 miles on it now (computer broke 2 months ago so I have no recent stats)

I chose the MKS Sylvans for the pedal options in the Build-a-bike feature on the site, do these come with straps and clips? Or do you have to choose the MKS Sylvan pedal kit for it to include straps and clips?
