The "Track Bikes In Tokyo" thread is 100 pages right now. Page after page of track bikes. I didn't see 1 conversion. This is how it's done.
Oh shizzle, I just realized that thread also includes no pics of fabric softener.

[quote=joetotale;7132982]I am not salty. I'm just not as tarck as you, bro.
PS: USA-made 80s lugged steel Trek[quote]
Again, thanks for making my point.
BTW, definition of tarck

My bike's intended purpose is to ridden on the road. Which I do--in town, around the park, out into the country, to the office. I like having a road bike with a single, fixed gear. It's fun, good training, easy to maintain, yada yada yada.

And, being a middle-aged desk jockey with a minivan and a mortgage, I stopped caring about comforming to fashion a long time ago.

Tarck = stupid = saying things like "Bottom line, I'd respect the cheapest ebay frame with track dropouts over the most classic/renowned/well-known/lightweight road frame conversion any day & twice on Sunday."

What that I preferred going for a quality, handmade American road frame from what was then a relatively small manufacturer over some generic entry-level track frame from Taiwan? Then yes, I guess I did.

Wait, what? How do photos of my bikes demonstrate the superiority/inferiority of conversions? For that matter, what does a thread with photos of trendy "track" bikes have to do with it either?
Is your point simply the aesthetics of track frames and how people dress them up for road use? If so, this is all starting to make sense. If this is about function, then seriously, educate us all about why track bikes offer a superior ride for fixed road use.

Look, I am not trying to insult you or anyone else who rides a conversion. This thread has answered the questions I had which is what prompted me to start it in the first place. I think that if a person wants to set up a bike to ride with a fixed gear, he should use a frame with track ends. Period.
Thanks to all who voted.

You think that people might own the kind of bike that they prefer riding? You know, you just might be on to something here.

Is this the newest form of BD shilling or something?
You have yet to give one reason why a mediocre track bike like a windsor the hour is better than a conversion based on a nice older road frame. Well except you irrational and unexplained hate for horizontal dropouts.

And I think if you want to set up a fixed gear, you should use track ends because you have a woody for them. As for advising what other riders should be doing, I'm on board with dutret: I think you should tell us all why.

are you kidding me?! If THATS what your basing it on Pimp Daddy No Bucks, my rear wheel alone cost as much as your original set-up. Go price a road bike for perspective. Your running a middling bike with middling wheels. What don't you get?
Time to get out of your moms basement and wallet and breathe deep of the real world.

I use the same SN (bigbris1) on every form I'm on. Do a search, then rethink what you stated above.

doesn't this totally depend on the type of riding you're doing? conversion has a more comfy ride for rides that are longer. . .depending on the bike. . track frames will always have you totally bent over for speed. great for short rides, but a pain if you want to go 20 miles on it
