Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Bikes: SS Ti Spot (Mike, Jessica & lewis' version), Steel Spot road(Mike, Jessica & lewis' version), DeSalvo Fixie, Supercross 20" BMX, CBR Anniversary 29er.

I know that this is pretty much Vanilla, but I thought Speedvagen was 'technically' someone else building the bikes?
Sacha welds the front and DeSalvo welds the rear.

Question for anyone that made NAHMBS. It seems like the majority of bikes on display use a King headset, and I was wondering if you saw anyone using the new crank bro's headset the directset? Seems like the type of product that would show up on a few of the builds just due to the uniqueness factor. I really like the idea of a minimalist headset and am contemplating it for my next build or when my Cane Creek gives up. If you snapped any pics let me see them!

imo, the benefit of the cc headset is the low stack height (21mm vs ck's 35mm) but ck just came out with their new inset which is 20mm stack height.

certainly which is why I'm interested, but there is a part of me that just does not want to give in to King without exploring other options first. Nothing wrong with king and you know I'm the first to support local industry but something about the directset is just sexy not to mention half the weight.

Bikes: Too Many

$292! Seriously? For almost the price of 3 Kings which are overkill IMHO, I don't get it.

That's price of the unnecessarily high zoot one. They start at $70 for the steel one and weigh 65 grams or something like that.

live2die, see here.

ha. thanks min.
Well after reading a bit more it sounds as if King promoted their low stack headset really heavily at the show and I'd assume provided them for any builder who wanted it. I guess that would answer why I didn't see the CB's at the show in any pictures. The king does offer a slightly shorter stack height but I still can't deny how money the CB's look!

Oh well. Bring on some more porn people... everyone knows headsets are boring

that naked bike is FLAWLESS in person, it's at mellow johnny's (lance armstrong's bike shop in Austin, Tx) and i hear that himself and bruce willis got into a bidding war for the bike and it ended at 15 Grand to lance, he rode it a few times around the convention center where it was bought and now is hanging in the shop. It is awesome.

Bikes: Fixed gear, C.ITOH frame with velocity wheels and drop handlebars.

Leather Bound Books

I could totally see Ron Burgandy from Anchorman on this bike. Really like the color combo.
