I do a lot of short commuting, nothing more than a couple of miles to and fro school, lbs, etc. I am def. going to try them but I am unsure that I will approve as many on this forum have.

I ordered the single versions so it's good to hear a positive review.

Hahahaha, I had a feeling, but you can never be too sure on these forums. Also, interrobang is just one of my favorite words, and yet I so rarely get a chance to use it.

That's what I was thinking and I liked how the MKS straps got wider towards the buckle. Also I thought they may run a slightly smaller chance of getting stolen since Toshi's are the bling brand name. Maybe they will see MKS logo and just think oh cheap straps. I am probably wrong though.

Well, unless they really know what they're looking for Toshis end up looking pretty ratty after a while, so they may get overlooked.

Toshis are great but the price is incredibly outrageous! A buddy of mine got a set of doubles on his bike and within a week they were starting to show wear in the same manner as my $10 straps.

I have Dimension double straps and they are fine, I don't care. They are cheap and easy to replace and I have never had any problems with them slipping/etc and they are still very white and sturdy even though I ride them in the rain/etc.

I have found that treating the cheap leather straps with my brooks proofide makes them last a lot longer. it makes sense to protect the leather on a brooks saddle why not the straps too.

retail is no doubt hard to swallow, but i have seen singles for 20 and got doubles for 50. those are likely not even the best deals out so keep an ear to the ground. by all means, run what youve got into the ground, but consider toshis as basically a one time purchase the next time you need to replace.

if you're riding brake less, then they do a whole lot... you want something that you're confident is going to bind your feet to the drive train...ive had cheap-o singles get loose on me going town a hill...not fun...

my current straps (MKS singles...the nice NJS ones lolz) have far better clasps on them that hold their position better. They're also built really nice... have not had a problem with them getting loose...

even so, i'm getting toshi doubles as soon as i can...i like to have the peace of mind that the straps won't give way anytime soon...

just get toshi's.

they are almost too secure. I switched to them from cheap nylon straps and ate **** a few times because I couldn't get my foot out of the straps, and they weren't even that tight. the suede like grips your shoes.

also good luck to anybody trying to steal my toshi's. it took me and my brother a solid hour with some needlenose plyers to get em through my pedals (sylvan tracks.)

that its the best!

ill never understand why people skimp on toe straps, particularly when riding brakeless... as the straps essentially your brakes as is! I wouldnt trust my life, or teeth or bones, to some 10 dollar nylon straps.

Double layer laminate straps with strong buckles are the only way to go. MKS (my personal favorite, due to lack of huge logos), Kashimax Toshi, Binda, whoever.

Look in the previous page where I posted my double strap setup. I rode my friend's toshis and then made these and honestly the suede I used holds my feet snug enough to NOT justify buying toshis cause they hold just as well but that's just me.

i just got double straps the other day and I have yet to do this for my GR-9s. It really needs to be done i've been fine so far but sometimes the strap will slip off where it would stay if I had the bolts longer.

saw them...a few of my friends have similar home-brew solutions... but the toshi's have better buckles (in grip and they are secured with 2 pins), and have an extra layer of leather and nylon in the middle... i'm sure they'll outlast those cristophe's...

maybe not worth the 100... but worth investing in IMO
