Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Fixed gear + popular culture.

Fixed gear bikes show up in the weirdest places. Where have you seen one? For instance, I found this bike while playing through the video game Mirror's Edge.

That game's ridiculously hard. Not bad when you get used to it.

Holy shlt that made me lol.
I haven't seen that particular commercial but I'm sitting here at a Starbucks with my mini laptop logged onto E*Trade checking to see how much money I lost overnight, next to my FG.

It's really fun so far. I love the Target aesthetic and the minimal music. Plus the flow of the game is really awesome. Almost zen-like.

Most likely one of the designers'/programmers' bikes. One of the few things I learned in my semester as a computer science major is how much fun it is to slip easter eggs like that into your code.

seconded- it seems that if it's fashion, includes a bike and is aimed to a younger demographic the bike will be a fixed gear.

and colorful.

I saw one in an old Simpsons episode once, no brakes, track drops, track grips. Had to freeze frame the episode to get a look but it was there for a split second.
