Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

This is a conversion that I'm working on. The frame is a 1973 Schwinn Continental.

Yeah, but I don't want to. Those labels cover the ugly seams on the rim.

Don---Great advice about the air canister. I recently put some Ourys on these risers I was given, and I had a hard time w/ it. First I used nail polish remover but the grips woudn't set, not even after I left them for a day. Then I took them off and put them back on w/ just a drop or 2 of water but even that took a few hours to set. Now they are pretty firm, though. I had heard about the air technique, but I didn't have an air compresser and didn't even think of computer cleaner! I will use that when I want to get the Ourys off (if I ever need to)

Dion---Bike looks way better now, IMO. The white rims are good looking on it. My gf (jean) has that fork, and I think it's pretty solid.

Thanks!!! I plan on racing XC MTB next year and my road bike is laying down some serious mileage, so I wanted to relax my non-race bike a bit. I'm happy with it . A little more 'lax... a little more jonzin'.

Those old Schwinns are excellent candidates for conversion as long as they aren't Paramounts... I can't imagine a tougher urban rig than an old electroforged Schwinn although they do come with quite a weight penalty.

it's the only cx ciocc ive ever seen also, not including the modern ones. If it is a cinelli bb.. it isn't marked. But it also doesn't have the usual ciocc BB cutout.
