Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I usually have drops or bullhorns so the tt protector actually makes sense.

Are you sure it wouldn't hit the top tube anyway?
Check this video:

https://vimeo.com/2781965

In the video the bike has a super steep rise stem and riser bars and when he spins it it still comes close to hitting.

The green line is where silsteve's stem would point, as the bars come around 90 degrees they will approach the top tube if not hit it directly.

The assumption that risers/positive rise stem/bullhorns/etc. can't hit a top tube is as dumb as it is common. It would make sense only if bikes had completely vertical head tubes.
