And yeah. If you had offered a CX bike with Rival, I probably would have thrown some money your way.

I'd live to drop full racks/fenders/panniers and have a sweet touring rig. All that extra weight plus the help of an IGH ... Let's hope the Kilo S3X keeps all the functionality of this WT model.

Love it. Actually, had this been available when I got my sst, I would have gone this route hands down. What price point is it coming in at? When I move this might become the cold weather commuter!

I wish some of you guys would read the posts before you ask the same questions all over again

The tires in the pictures are 32s and he's looking at pricing the bike at $449 or $429

New question however, could we get a pic of the left side of the bike? I want to see how the rear cable is mounted.

Thanks

Uh, I wish you would read the question before commenting on other's questions. BD's post specifically stated: "I put 52 clear in frame and fork" and proceed to show clearance pictures, I asked for clarification on the pictures he showed immediately IN THE SAME POST where he stated "I put 52 clear in frame and fork". Yes, his original post stated pics taken with 32s, that's WHY I asked the question about THE SECOND POST WITH PICTURES. There was NO clarification on the tire size after the second post with pictures until I asked. Please remember, anytime you're pointing your finger, there's likely 4 pointing back at you, numbnuts.

I agree with what others have said; BD is bringing the products we want to the people at a price that even us poor young folks can afford. Even at $450 this bike would be a killer deal. I currently live in the hills of east TN and ride solely for recreation but my wife just got a job in the Beltsville, MD area so soon I'll be living car-free outside of Baltimore. I wanted a new FG to add rack/fenders to for running errands and this looks like it'll be perfect.

I was looking at the Uno and the Marin Hamilton but this bike looks like it splits the difference between the two at a price I won't be afraid to lock up outside once in a while.

Nice work, I look forward to seeing it on the BD website soon.

That's clearly the same tire in both pictures.

In the works; plus 2010 Fantom Cross Pro will be RED [group - not color]

bikesdirect_com 04-22-09 04:01 PM

To be clear
Frame and fork have 52 to 55 mm of space
max tire would be about 42c - although some might puch the limit

but even 38c is wide; even on a loaded touring bike

~~~~
I checked other colors I ordered [as I pre ordered this months ago]
Colors:
WHITE [as shown]
Metallic Inferno Red
Metallic Emerald Green
~~~~~~~~~~

Question; how many would like this as a frame only with out decals?
In what colors? or in Fades?

~~~~~~~~~~
Sizes on WT 49, 53, 56, 59, 62 -- measured C-C
A 700x52 is a 29er tire first of all and probably what he meant was that was the clearance with the 32c tires as the other pictures but on a 52cm frame. Also name calling isn't allowed so . . .:thumb:
This pretty well seals the deal. So how soon can I pre-order one? (59cm in green)
I'd buy it in a heartbeat, and I ain't picky about colors.
Great job as usual Mike. Now I have to decide whether to buy one of these or wait for the Motobecane Track Pro.. gah.
I'm holding out for the Motobecane pro track. Been saving all of my money for this, don't disappoint me, Mike!
DIRT BOY 04-22-09 07:41 PM
Will there be a frame only option??
I think he's trying to see how much interest there is for a decal-free frameset so if enough people show interest in that maybe they will carry it as a frameset.
Steve90068 04-22-09 10:18 PM
i wont be buying this only because it isn't my type of bike but huge props to bikes direct for always putting out killer product
knucks 04-22-09 10:26 PM
Too "similar" to my Cross Uno and no cantis, but it's a decent bike
jch3n 04-23-09 12:31 AM
sweet! i think i've found my next fixed gear bike. please make it available frame only and in a metallic silver or gunmetal or raw looking color.
DIRT BOY 04-23-09 05:15 AM
I can care less about decals. I just rather not buy the bike and strip for just the frame.
DIRT BOY 04-23-09 05:17 AM
But much better IMO. You can run a chainring larger than 39T, and use regular road brakes.
Now I can use 25-28mm tires with fenders :thumb:
Guys, these are the very reasons WHY I asked the question. 1) It appeared to be the same tire, though at a different angle that made it look like there was no remaining clearance past the original 32, if it was a 32. and 2) 700x52 is stupid big for a bike like this.
Anyhow, back to the bike. Yeah, 38C are plenty big. My frustration with me Trek Soho S is that my 700x35 pert-near rub, and are crazy hard to get through the brakes (though I may swap brakes).
Frames only are definitely a good option. I know that's what I'd be looking at (of course, I'm still waiting on a TT Raw). The inferno red on this sound good.
BD / Mike - on fender clearance, do you think a 45 or 52 fender would squeeze in there (given the clearance)? http://www.velo-orange.com/fenders.html
Yes
and if you will join our newsletter
as soon a pre-order opens on any bike you will get an e-mail alert
http://www.bikesdirect.com/yahoogroup.htm
I really would like to see lots of people join; so when bikes like Kilo S3X, Kilo TT Pro, Kilo OS, Kilo WT, new UNO, Stripper, new 44c Kilo TT, Le Champion in Ti, etc etc are on the way everyone can see that
We do not send spam from BD or BI - so this is our only way to tell customers, when they ask to be on the list [I know sending spam to all previous customers is profitable - but I do not like it]
