It's just my opinion, so I thought I'd see if anyone else shared the same opinion with me.

Why?

JoeEasy 05-11-09 05:05 AM

because this is the internet.

About the video:

In the words of Homer Simpson, "BORRRINGGGG".

That is all.

You should. Definately

I imagine guys were doing this sort of stuff back in 1910 or so, which eventually became artistic cycling. Then BMX reinvented the sport, but with smaller wheels and a more anarchist style. True artistic cyclists put these guys to shame, as do most BMXers. Now these guys are just imitating BMXers, but on a bike more like those of artistic cyclists. Hell, even I was doing these very basic tricks back in 1987 on a Haro Master. When these guys start wearing leotards and spinning synchronous circles on one wheel to classical music, with a gear ratio less than 1, the sport of bicycle-trick-riding will have come full circle.

Its just all about having fun though, so no hate coming from me. But its certainly nothing to get excited about either.

bratton 05-11-09 07:05 AM

f***ing hipsters! LOLOLOL

mihlbach 05-11-09 07:11 AM

Actually these guys don't fit any definition of hipster that I know of. Hipsters don't stick with anything long enough to learn tricks like this.

bach that is some truthwords~ i 2nd this. and also super support the part about having fun~ its all i want to get out of it.

I couldn't care less what these people do on their bikes, but I will say, I'm glad mihlbach pointed out that the FG was the original trick bike.

JoeEasy 05-11-09 08:25 AM

it's not really impressive. bmx tricks that bmxers have been doing for awhile just done on a bigger bike. it's like watching urban freeride but much more limited and so much more restricted.

"I imagine guys were doing this sort of stuff back in 1910 or so, which eventually became artistic cycling."

+1 to that. Look for "artistic cycling" on youtube.

I'm not that up on it, but as far as I know, BMX bikes aren't generally fixed-gear, so they don't do the pedaling-backwards stuff...that's Artistic Cycling, not BMX.

Its not common but I knew of a few flatlanders who rode fixed with tiny gear ratios and did artistic cycling types of tricks. That was way back in the 80's. Watch the movie Rad carefully, you'll see some fixed gear BMX action. Check out the bicycle dance scene in particular.

the_don 05-11-09 09:07 AM

LOL,

This is yet another BF classic.

LOL again. If you ride backwards with a BMX using a freewheel, then you have to pedal backwards. THINK ABOUT IT FOR A SECOND.

Thetank 05-11-09 09:24 AM

This forum makes me want to hate bikes in general, I think I'm gonna sell everything and try rollerblading now! :D

JoeEasy 05-11-09 09:28 AM

skating is a blast. i spent 10 years of my life doing it. i know you are being sarcastic but i loved it

jpdesjar 05-11-09 09:37 AM

+1 on rollerblading
i have been skating since i was 8 or something so i can appreciate tricks on fixed wheel bikes

and i liked the tom waits song too

go ride your bike

Meepers 05-11-09 09:49 AM

BMX + Free Hub = pedal backwards.

You don't NEED to pedal backwards to ride backwards? Momentum from spinning the bike around will let you ride backwards without having to pedal? Or landing a feature backward (ramp, etc) will give you the momentum.

.... or am I missing the point you were trying to make?

push bike backwards. the pedals rotate. end.
