I imagine guys were doing this sort of stuff back in 1910 or so, which eventually became artistic cycling. Then BMX reinvented the sport, but with smaller wheels and a more anarchist style. True artistic cyclists put these guys to shame, as do most BMXers. Now these guys are just imitating BMXers, but on a bike more like those of artistic cyclists. Hell, even I was doing these very basic tricks back in 1987 on a Haro Master. When these guys start wearing leotards and spinning synchronous circles on one wheel to classical music, with a gear ratio less than 1, the sport of bicycle-trick-riding will have come full circle.
Its just all about having fun though, so no hate coming from me. But its certainly nothing to get excited about either.

I couldn't care less what these people do on their bikes, but I will say, I'm glad mihlbach pointed out that the FG was the original trick bike.

it's not really impressive. bmx tricks that bmxers have been doing for awhile just done on a bigger bike. it's like watching urban freeride but much more limited and so much more restricted.

+1 to that. Look for "artistic cycling" on youtube.
I'm not that up on it, but as far as I know, BMX bikes aren't generally fixed-gear, so they don't do the pedaling-backwards stuff...that's Artistic Cycling, not BMX.

Its not common but I knew of a few flatlanders who rode fixed with tiny gear ratios and did artistic cycling types of tricks. That was way back in the 80's. Watch the movie Rad carefully, you'll see some fixed gear BMX action. Check out the bicycle dance scene in particular.

Personally, I hated skating...not skaters....just skating. I have friends who skated. I gave it many chances, but just couldn't get into it. Skating is so inefficient compared to any kind of biking and I never felt like I was riding anything....just flipping a board around beneath my feet. Skating has always seemed slow and jerky to me..not smooth and flowing like BMX riding. I'm sure thats not the case for many, but it was for me.
