Meh. It sounds more complicated than it is, and a track stand at the stop light makes unclipping superfluous anyway. Besides, it's less stupid than skid-stops or riding brakeless.

these look kind of like power grips, I put the ones i had kicking about on the bike at the weekend, for something that looks so pointless and faddish they are actually good, wouldn't pay full price for them though

Some people seem to have knee problems if their pedals don't have float, but I've never had this problem and have always used pedals/cleats with no float. Float was introduced with clipless pedals and didn't even exist in the bad old days of clips, straps and shoes with slotted cleats. One thing for sure, anybody who has ridden/raced on the track quickly learns to lock out the float to be totally sure they never unclip accidentally.

Oh bull****. Float doesn't make you any more likely to unclip accidentally. Hell, if anything it would make you less likely, as you're not automatically pressing up against the mechanism for engagement if you happen to rotate your foot at all.

I'm with Dave.
Float is awesome, I like knowing I have a little wiggle room when hopping curbs and doing anything in urban/offroad environments.
Plus on pedals like Time ATAC's (and I'm assuming any other similar design) the float has a friction, meaning my foot is locked in straight under normal riding, but I have quite a bit of play room before I actually disengage.
It's not like my foot is just sliding around on the pedal, I have to physically want to use my float.

yeah they are similar to power grips but the strap goes evenly across the top. it's not a great shot of it in my pic though. they look like they would be really comfy and work well.

yeah they dont look too bad to adjust, I assume the strap is velcro.
I dont really know if $60 is a lot, what with being english and using pounds, do they come with pedals included?

it doesn't look like pedals are included. it also seems like you need to run these with bmx pedals.

bit of a shame having to use bmx pedals, they look so ungainly and out of place on a 'road' type frame
might be able to adapt them to fit to a bear trap style pedal, zip ties ftw!!

yeah, float vs. no float is definitely a preference thing. I can totally see how not having float would hurt ones knees in certain situations, but my knees are fine with it. That's why there's so many kinds of clipless pedals.

I gotta go with the guys above and say Time ATAC all the way, with the tension all the way up I have never gotten "ejected" unless I was screwing around skidding or something. MTB shoes arent even that bad. Float is great, and clipless has made me a better cyclist, honestly.

Fresh Garbage
My SPDs are near the lowest setting and I don't decleat even when I skid. I climb hills and I pull up really hard and still nothing. Some of you people freak out WAY TOO MUCH about decleating. I even put a few drops of lube of my pedals so I can unclip with more ease.

I has the yellow carbon time atac. I like them, never unclipped under pressure cept this one time I had to stop quick and unclipped ONCE but it was most likely me twisting my foot. Also Sidi Dominators
