Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Got a Frame need advise

Looking to build a fixed gear, just looking specifically for help on what type of ball bearing set i should get, as well as what type of headset? for the fork to frame area is what i am referring to.
Furthermore, attached are photos showing the fork with threads on the top as well as where the crank would go show that it is threaded as well, let me know if you guys need anything else.
Btw just curious what you guys would pay for this frame, just want to know if I got a good deal on it or not.

Lotus bikes were Japanese made bikes. You'll want to post in the classic and vintage for more info.
https://www.bikeforums.net/archive/in.../t-388622.html

You've got a threaded headset, most likely 1", however there are two sizes for 1" threaded headsets, the JIS and the ISO, so you'll need to take the frame and fork with you to the bike shop to see which one you need, or get a set of calipers and do the appropriate measurement.
https://www.sheldonbrown.com/headsets.html

Your bottom bracket is almost definitely a 68mm English standard, but you'll want to wait on buying that until you know what size spindle length you'll need for your cranks.

Do not worry about whether or not you got a good deal. Assume that you did. Otherwise you can only be disappointed.

Looks like a fun project. Good luck!

Every used steel frame I've ever bought (lot of them over the years) has had minor rust inside the tubes. It's steel after all. An application of Frame Saver takes care of it in short order. It's really nothing to worry about.

Just wanted to update you guys on my bike. so far i got some wheels, handlebars, pedals, a chain, seat. Everything that basically does not require measurement. I should be going to my local bike shop to get measurements for all the other stuff. So far though i dropped about a 1g, all the parts a new though.

Bikes: Catrike 559 I own some others but they don't get ridden very much.

I hope you're tall. That's a big frame.

You still need:

grip tape
stem
tires (x2)
tubes (x2)
cranks
bottom bracket
chain ring
rear cog
seat post
headset

Based on the prices of your purchases so far, you seem to have taste for the nicer gear. If you are in for $1,000 already, I would expect you to pay another $800 or so before you are done.

grip tape $15
stem $75
tires (x2) $80
tubes (x2) $10
cranks $300
bottom bracket $50
chain ring $60
rear cog $20
seat post $80
headset $100

$1,800 total would be my guess.

Custom a-la-carte almost always gets expensive.

got a cannondale c2 seapost for 15 bucks, trying to keep the black theme going i might paint the chrome part of it, what would you guys recommend i go about it to prevent stripping off of paint with wear and tear. Furthermore, i am looking for a BB with spindle lengths of between 110-113 mm and black any recommendations?

I'm pretty sure your frame is definitely worth some money in the vintage bike collectors/restorers world with it being made of columbus and such; so don't go to such lengths of spray painting the chrome to make it easier to get rid of when you want something nicer to go with your ellipse's.

Yes or alternatively you can purchase a quill stem adapter to use a threadless stem in conjunction with a threaded headset; makes it easier to swap headsets and bars; but cosmetics are sacrificed.
