Yes. The steerer tube comes uncut. Find the height that's right for you by experimenting (move some spacers above your stem and some below), chop it down and lose 'em!

I ended up with 20mm of spacers on my Kilo, love it.

Perhaps replace them with black spacers so they'll blend with the head tube.

If that's the right height, you can just cut the steerer a bit then get a stem with rise.

It does kind of look weird, but if it works (it's the right size frame) and it's comfortable, who really gives a **** if it looks weird.

Yeah...you know what? I didn't mean to come across like I was telling you what to do in my earlier post. If your bike feels good, that's important and there isn't much need to experiment. It can't hurt, though. You may end up finding a more comfortable setup. I know that when my Kilo came stock, I absolutely hated how much reach the stem had and coupled with all the spacers, my bike was pretty uncomfortable for me.

while i doubt it matters on a mercier fork, there are limits to this sort of practice from a safety perspective. of course that can be a hollow argument at ssfg.

Since the question was about whether or not it looks off, I'm going to say yes. Maybe a stem with a bit of rise, and less spacers. It looks odd to me.

You could lose a cm or two of spacers (most or all of the 5mm ones on top there) and get the same rise by flipping the stem.

That stem looks like zero rise.

..or flip the existing stem (as mentioned above). It has a slight rise.

I think that info is wrong. My stock stem definitely didn't correspond with those specs and had quite a bit of rise when flipped.

We don't want to know how excited you were. But look at the photo he attached.

To my eyes it looks clearly tighter than 90 degrees. Compare the obtuse-looking angle on top to the acute looking angle on the bottom. It looks to me like a knockoff of the Nitto UI 5GX stem which has a slight drop or rise depending on the flip.

[Edit] I see that the wheel is turned away from the camera and the stem might well be 0 rise. Meh.

Imo it looks ok. If that's the right height for you, leave it like that. Comfort >>> aesthetics.
