Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Conversion or fuji classic track :)

So heres my petty little problem, ive been given a decent old Takahashi Sannow Road frame with horizontal drop out and im planning to do a fixed conversion for the bike.I have few parts laying around like cranks, chain, stem and rizors, and all i need now are pair of nice wheels. But at the same time ive group purchased a new Fuji Classic Track 2010 with some people and that bike will be ready around end of march.Should i go for the fuji classic track 2010 or maybe i should buy a decent wheelset which might cost half of the price of fuji classic track?I have another track bike as my primary bike.Any advices or critiques would be much appreciated.

Bikes: A little of everything

Yes, definitely. Maybe.

Are you really going to ride three different fixed-gear bikes? Spend money on the nicest one that fits you best, and set up the least attractive one as a cheap beater. If the road frame is serviceable, put some gears on it.

Get the Fuji, give the frame to someone else who needs a bike.

Don't do it!!! Save the money for your 2010 fuji. Two is enough.

yes,on a forth thought having three decent bikes is a waste but again, its either fuji classic track or this conversion or nothing at all.So that makes a 2 decent bike which i plan to use second bike for daily commuter.eheh.in fact im much satisfied with my steamroller.out of topic, would it be okay if i use front brake for B43?I just moved to suburbs and its a hilly place.

2nd bike as daily commuter, 1st bike as your nice bike. I don't know how much money a fuji track is but using that money for your "nice" bike could greatly improve it. It definitely depends on what it is. If I were going to buy a fuji bike I would opt for a Comp or Pro. If you want a steel bike, yes I am going to say it, the Kilo is a good choice.

not really,i still use my steamroller for primary commute but again that i found that my "nice" bike is fine without any upgrades or anythin like that.Fuji Comp or Pro isnt an option for me since im in malaysia now and those are beyond my budget .and Thats the main reason the group purchase for fuji classic track were started since theres not much of fixed bike seller/dealer over here.
