painting frame over the existing paint?
hellllllloo thereee
so........i have an aluminum frame that is almost entirely matte black with red and white stripes here and there. i dont like the red stripes very much, so is it possible if i just put electric tape around them, and just spray paint over the existing red paint? i'm not really looking for a professional quality paintjob, just not a horrible one.
if not, then what is the best way to get rid of the red stripes?

Your idea isn't horrible, you would probably want to sand down the red stripes before panting though so your new paint will stick (atleast this is what you need to do for automobiles, so I would assume the same rule applies here). However, unless you can find paint that matches pretty well you may end up with it looks like a big stripe of a different colored black on your black frame. So I would suggest trying that first, if it looks like **** then sand down everything and repaint everything.

I'm thinking that the probability of a horrible repaint job is pretty high. So how badly do you hate the red stripes? If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
