To be honest, I'm not a diehard fixie rider or even a singlespeed rider since I don't have my own and end up bumming to borrow a friend's from time-to-time until I build up my bike. Also, I'm not a health freak. I do watch what I eat but that's mainly to avoid feeling nasty afterwards. Some foods just don't agree with me and the older I grow, the more I realise that those foods are fast-food. That said, on occassion, I do eat at McDonald's, Wendy's and the like.

Nope. Never have and never tried. I guess it was always counterintuitive. I am a bit of self-admitted pyro and when I was young, I always hated accidently breathing in fumes and smoke so I guess I could never see the logic of deliberately putting that stuff in my mouth. I admit that after listening to some people describe smoking a cigar and how well it went with say a glass of scotch, I was tempted but when I actually saw it happening, it seemed so unnatural to me that I lost all urge.

Now I am pretty picky about my alcohol and I learned early on that cheap alcohol just makes me sick. I think the expensive stuff helps keep my drinking under control. I usually only drink in a social setting and never to the point of passing out. My rule of thumb is that if I can no longer discern the taste from the alcohol then I stop.

There are several items of food that I don't think I could live without. One of them is stuffed spinache pizza. I grew up in Chicago and thus grew up on Chicago-style hotdogs and stuffed spinache pizzas. I also can't ever give up crab (dungenous, king, giant pacific, you-name-it). I know some people might crucify me for this but the best crab I have ever found was at Bob Chinn's House of Crab near Palwaukee airport just north of Chicago. As far as other junk-food equivalents, I don't eat it all the time but am not draconian about avoiding it either. Yes, I know it's bad for me.

Honestly, I don't really know what kind of shape I'm in. I've been told by my flight physician that I'm in pretty good shape but I have never considered myself extraordinarily fit or an athlete. I ride my bike because I like to ride and the fitness benefits are simply that. For me, concentrating foremost on the fitness and athletic portion of any activity makes me lose interest. I'm in it for the fun.

1. Quit smoking almost 3 years ago
2. Enjoy and occasional brew
3. hardly ever eat junk food, i too love to cook and find it hard to make junk!

Cycling; bmx, mountain, road, fixed, (in chronological order) has lead me to a healthier lifestyle. I find
myself eating foods that make it easier to ride and release engery when i need. Since i started riding
daily about 2 years ago i lost 30 pounds and have really toned up. Its also got me started on running
and other work out stuff too.

Never smoked, drink beer, canadian whiskey, occasionally bourbon, rarely scotch, vodka&redbull at parties, occasional Jager shot for kicks (again, at parties). Don't drink the volume that I did even a couple of years ago, but I still don't mind having a good time with friends. I eat well the vast majority of the time; like others, enjoy cooking for myself and Wifey. All around pretty fit. Could be moreso, but could also be a lazy ******.

A) Not since 1985
B) Once in a while
C) Once a week, like ice cream it's my kryptonite

As for C it's one of the reasons I ride so much and so hard, it enables me to eat some crap and stay fit.

I "treat myself" once a week. Usually to perogis or keilbasa, YUM! Otherwise we eat "vegan" at home.

But non-the-less I am a fat bastard
Couldn't have guessed any of the above from your previous posts......... /sarcasm

1. Quit smoking over 4 years ago. No cravings and they stink now.
2. Drinking is great when I'm up, not up for awhile now so i lay off as it bums me.
3. Fast food way too much, recently working on it.

I'm car free and have a labor intensive job and that keeps me semi fit.

I am new here, but I will respond to the survey because it is hilarious.

A. I am a chain smoker
B. Beer every night, but not to the point of getting drunk. I decided years ago that hangovers are no fun.
C. I need to eat constantly, so junk sometimes is the only option, but I try to avoid it.

At 5'8" and 46 years old I am still 140lbs and have a full head of brown hair. Most of my peers hate me.

Again anybody interested in read a bicycle related forum is going to either be fitter than average or is interested in becoming so.

New user here, weighing in on this one.

Non-smoker.

Usually have a beer with dinner, sometimes more if I go out. Plus the occasional cocktail, or glass of bourbon/scotch. Rarely drunk, ocasionally lightly buzzed.

Dunno about 4-days a week (some weeks are better than others), but I do eat far too much junk-food. Been making an effort lately to cook more at home, though more for financial reasons than health reasons. The fast-food habit gets *expensive*...

A, B, C: NO
But smoking other-things-of-questionable-legality occasionally is alright in my book.

A) Smoke (Cigarettes)

no way! cigs are the work of the devil because i dont smoke cigs i can ride my bike or skateboard way longer than my pals who huff butts.

B) Drink
good god man, scotch and beer are the glue that holds my world together. i have cut back on the "black outs" that type of drinking is just not cool. i had a run in with a tree about two years ago and that put an end to the "stupid drinking"

C) Eat pizza (or equivalent form of junk food) 4 days a week

i have a friend that thinks pizza is like sex... it can be a bad pizza but in the end it is still pizza! 4 days a week, no. 2 or 3 tops.

i am a carpenter so i guess that keeps me from turning into a fat slob.

No smokes.

No booze.

Pizza, don't not eat it, but I can't eat a whole one. I don't go out after dark. Sometimes, split one at lunch. Junk food, yea.

This SS thing, I am riding a Sora tranny, but 1 gear a ride. Use the big ring up front, the one from the bottom on the rear today's 50 miles. One day, will get SS project from E Bay.

Want speed, gear inches, no stoppy, ride fast..

Maybe you SS/Fixers will clue me in about build up ?

None of the 3. I'm vegan. Grow some of my own sprouts and wheatgrass and try to eat 70 percent raw foods a day. Don't want to be a slave to the sick(health) care industry. We've all been duped.

Bikes: I built the Bianchi track bike back up today.

a) A pouch of Drum lasts me about two days. For some reason I think rolling my own is healthier. Otherwise it's American Spirits.
b) As Cynical said, take a look at my avatar, or read some of my posts A 1.75 liter lasts me anywhere from 2-5 days depending on my stress level.
c) Working on the junk food, but with the calories from the liq, I usually only eat at work. Stoffer's lasagna is pretty damn good. Ramen and grilled cheese at home mostly.

Yup, I'm not healthy at all.

Bikes: a tvt soon to become a s/s...

1:: about half pouch of drum lasts me about a month [and then i chuck it because it's gone crispy].
and i occasionally enjoy some shisha.
but i wouldn't ever smoke tobacco on its own.

2:: only socially, and never to the point where i've forgotten huge tracts of the night before. [well... maybe once or twice]

3:: hardly ever bought from restaurants or where-ever. it's things like jaffa-cakes and chocolate biscuits that get me.

but i'm working on a decent stable diet.

Bikes: a bunch

I ride because I love to ride and I like being fit. Don't smoke but I dip some Skoal. Only drink one or two beers at a time anymore. I eat pizza almost every Friday but try to stay away from junk food in general during the rest of the week. Works for me but it's changed some over the years.
