Never sit on the saddle. Always ride as if you are climbing

You could just wipe it off with bleach after everytime you ride or get a darker saddle or wear white pants when you ride.

Leave it stained, it adds hipster points because it shows you actually ride your bike and dont give a damn about money.

I agree on the mr clean magic eraser. I use one to keep my white tires clean.

Coat the saddle in crisco and then cover it in saran wrap.

Bikes: tirove

they are a micro abrasive. on a wear item like tires, i wouldn't worry about it.

i wouldn't be about to go using those with frequency on a nice part like a saddle unless i wanted the saddle to get worse and worse with time. obviously, it depends on whether the saddle is leather, vinyl, or a different synthetic. for something absorbent like leather, i'd sooner use bleach than magic erasers.

I'd worry about gradual deterioration by using bleach on nice leather but I suppose if you diluted it enough, it wouldn't be a problem. I am thinking about getting a white saddle myself and wonder about keeping it nice. I would guess that precipitation (or more likely, perspiration) would be at the root of the problem but choosing a non-bleeding fabric should also be a priority.

Haven't tried the magic erasers but do notice that they easily take paint off walls, proof of their fairly aggressive abrasive qualities. I might have to try one on my tires though.

i hear ya, mine is a nice light blue from commuting now. I haven't tried to take it off yet, as i figure it'll just get back on there (why make the bed either? j/k)

If you find something that works, post it because i would like a nice and clean saddle every once and a while

IMO saddles are like jeans or chuck taylors, they look better used.

I keep my bikes really clean, but i don't worry about the saddle

Bikes: Several, mostly not name brands.

There's a reason bike saddles are traditionally dark colors. Think about it.
