Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

There's porn that makes the other boys crowd around, elbowing for a look, and then there's porn that makes them walk off muttering "that's sick".

Maxi-car hubs... these are to die for and few hubs of any era were any smoother and they used cartridge bearings in the 40's.

Note the spoke drillings on the freewheel side,,, designed like this so the spokes could be replaced without removing the freewheel.

Wow, those pics are old. I have actually torn that bike (BFSSFG Build) down in expectation of building something better. Once everything shows up I will post complete pics.

This hub porn is creating unrealistic expectations for what a hub should look like. Think of what this does for the self esteem of more modest hubs!
