Haha ****ty Hutchinson Equinox's that cost like $9 each. However, I only ever got one pinch flat due to not keeping the psi up. I just recently started skidding a lot, just for fun because I knew I had a pair of gatorskins waiting to be mounted and couldn't justify changing tires when the ones I had were holding up alright. Anyways, within a few weeks of skidding I noticed about a quarter size of threads showing in one spot.

Is it worth it to throw some Gatorskins on my back rim if I skid alot? I also have the Kenda's on my Hour, and the back one is getting pretty worn..

I ran the Equinox's on my first conversion and they lasted forever. Tons and tons of skidding. I actually think they outlived the conversion and ended up on my Pista as a "I need a tire and this on is lying around". I never had a problem with them.

I have Kendas. Those are stock on the windsor, and mine were hella worn. LIke I rode over some loose, fine gravel on the road, and even that punctured my tubes. Lol. Looks like you need to pay attention to this thread to =p

My Rubinos have held up exceptionally well, especially considering they're almost a year old. I don't skid though.

Hell...I don't even ride my bike. I just dress up like a chick and pose for sexy pics with it.

Does a wider tire help on wet grounds? My bike almost slipped and I almost fell today. (It was raining).

Supposedly, yes, it also has to do with the softness of the compound of the tread. You should get new tires, I worn those Kenda tires in less than a month, it's too cheap. I don't skid at all though.

I do this too, and don't even skid. It seems like some of the "roadies" that frequent the shop think it's necessary to replace their tires after every third ride. I seriously have a ****ing closet full of barely used tires.

A friend of mine uses CST Czars, which is used for road bike applications, but he says they are really good. XD

Czars aren't bad. My wife had them on one of her bikes a while back and they lasted her a damn long time. She's picky about tires.

Best advice I've read so far. I don't think I'd put more than $ 15 per tire into anything that was going to skid the bike to a stop. The brake definitely goes a long way even in FG mode vs SS freewheel mode.

I have an Equinox and I've had like 1 or 2 flats in over 6 months. I feel like that's pretty good for a 10 buck tire.

Some tires are luckier too. Only flats I ever had, occurred within a month of riding the tire and they were all the rear tires. Road bike was a piece of glass, had to walk the bike about 5 miles home. The mountain bike had a huge thorn go into it, but being new tires, it breached the tube at the very tip of the thorn, so it was a slower leak, but I still wound up walking that home too and that was closer to a 3.5 to 4 mile walk. Track bike has hit a few piles of glass, but the tires haven't been compromised. Amazing not even a cut, Innova Flames 700x25's @ 100 psi on a Vilano.

https://www.bikemania.biz/ProductDeta..._IA-2304-Flame

I never suspected they were priced that high, I found them on ebay $ 39.99 per pair ($ 27.99 with $ 12 S&H), while that link indicates $ 33 reduced to $ 25 for a single tire and $ 41.50 for a pair. The tires on my road bike are Forte GT2 Kevlars that are actually cheaper than the Innova's. Mountain bike has Kenda's if I recall. So I'm not brand loyal, had about the same luck with all of them for durability. Get the tires that you like the tread pattern and fits your budget, even color if that's the way you want to roll.

I've been riding my Equinox for months with a huge slice in it with no problems. I have a set of new tires coming though.. I survived over a year spending less than 50 bucks on tires. Just a Panaracer RiBMo and an Equinox.
