aerohead

I canceled the mavic OP order from BWW. I've decided I need something a bit stronger.

My bike ismy main means of transportation, I use it for work (delivering food) and lots of the areas I ride in aren't exactly the smoothest streets. They're not as bad as Philly or anything but there is the occasional pothole and gravel roads.

With that said, I think I am going to go with the velocity aeroheads.
Anyone know where I can cop these for a good price? I'd want black rims, black spokes and black hubs.

Also, if I can only find em non-machined, will it destory my front wheel to have an emergency brake?

I am still open to suggestions but so far, the aeroheads are winning. They're as light if not lighter than the OP's, they are stronger and they look RAD.
I have $300-$320 to spend.

Thanks for all the info/help

Non machined w/ brakes will wear the black finish after a while. I can't say anything else as ive never used the aeroheads or the openpros.

How do you have like... 4 threads on the same subject of you buying black wheels?

Have you tried contacting Velomine? I don't know what their custom pricing is, but you could give them a shot.

you can try prowheelbuilder, I think they have aeroheads and black hubs and spokes and nipples if you want, in machined if memory serves, all within your budget

prowheelbuilder is amazing. good pricing and you can customize. if my lbs can't get me a good aerohead set for $350 im gonna hit this up.
i don't know what i should choose for my "intentional use" though.

yeah, i use it for commuting but i also use it for delivering **** as fast as possible when im on the clock. i've never raced but i might in the future. i do enjoy riding fast but i do use it for my sole means of transportation (the bus scares me). i imagine a race build is more than a commute build. is it worth the extra $$$?
so ugh, which option do i pick?

The intentional use influences how they lace the wheel. For racing the front would prbly be radial, for puttin' around 2 cross, heavier use 3 cross etc. They might make suggestions if parts chosen are a poor fit for intendet use.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is the case. For example, if you enter "commuting" for the purpose, it won't allow you to have a radial lacing on the front wheel, only 2x or 3x. Also, certain products are listed as "recommended" or "acceptable" or simply not allowed for your build. As far as I can tell, there is no cost attributed to any of the purposes available.

You need to come to grips with what your needs really are. It sounds to me like you're looking for race rims to use for delivering **** on iffy streets. Those are cross - purposes. Gary Bontrager used to say "Strong, light, cheap. Pick any two." If you were to come to me, I'd try to move you from Arrowheads to stronger (and heavier) Dyad rims.
