Next time, I still won't.
Not one fixed-gear rider, and they come in all shapes, sizes, and socio-economic categories, laid blame either in the forum or through PMs. For that, I thank you all and am proud to be counted in your number. The others can blow me.

Wow. I know I just butted into this, and you can go ahead and put me on your hate list, whatever, but that was pretty jerky. I understand you're shaken up, but no need to take it out here.

Schiek, glad you are ok. Sorry about the wreck. Have had some close calls though and never forget the terror of those few slow-motion seconds before you know something BAD is going to happen.

The day after....
Well, no worse for wear. Little bruised, little banged up, but the ride in felt fine. My only regret is that I was forced to ride my geared cyclocross bike...and as you all know, this means the terrorists win. [editor note: great, now all of the political forum guys are going to rush over here to set me straight...wait a tick
okay that should cover me.]
On second thought, should I even be posting this here? I feel like such an outsider....can somebody give me directions to the cyclocross forum....I know it's north of here...
In all seriousness, the cx frame is a sweet-ass Wallyworld green....

Have you seen this color on a Redline Conquest? If so, do you know what year it is?
And I almost forgot my silver lining...
Somebody ripped off rear wheels and anything else not locked down in my office building's garage yesterday. The day my bike wasn't there.

So I got the police report, today. Driver 2 (van) ticketed for failure to yield. Driver 1 (car) and driver 3 (me) not at fault, unable to stop/avoid collision. That's all fine and good, and whatever.
But here's the kicker...
the cop listed my age as 42! He never even asked. I don't look 42! Full head of hair, no gray....42????
This is really depressing.

HA! HA! It's the price of lawyerdom. Come on Schiek you know you use that spray-on hair to cover the bald spot. Why do most of us have bald spots in our future anyway? It seems like a really weird thing to be afflicted with. Why just a spot? Weird.

Bikes: Can't stand the damn things...
They gazed at God's Final Message in wonderment, and were slowly and ineffably filled with a great sense of peace, and of final and complete understanding.
Fenchurch sighed. "Yes," she said, "that was it."
They had been staring at it for fully ten minutes before they became aware that Marvin, hanging between their shoulders, was in difficulties. The robot could no longer lift his head, had not read the message. They lifted his head, but he complained that his vision circuits had almost gone.
They found a coin and helped him to the telescope. He complained and insulted them, but they helped him look at each individual letter in turn, The first letter was a "w", the second an "e". Then there was a gap. An "a" followed, then a "p", an "o" and an "l".
Marvin paused for a rest.
After a few moments they resumed and let him see the "o", the "g", the "i", the "s" and the "e".
The next two words were "for" and "the". The last one was a long one, and Marvin needed another rest before he could tackle it.
It started with an "i", then "n" then a "c". Next came an "o" and an "n", followed by a "v", an "e", another "n" and an "i".
After a final pause, Marvin gathered his strength for the last stretch.
He read the "e", the "n", the "c" and at last the final "e", and staggered back into their arms.
"I think," he murmured at last, from deep within his corroding rattling thorax, "I feel good about it."

Bikes: I built the Bianchi track bike back up today.
The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy is the best bus ride book ever. I've read it 5 or 6 times on cross country trips.
The idea of the earth as a super computer trying to figure out what the question 42 is the answer to is (of course, run by white lab rats) appeals to me. As does the idea that the current population of the planet was the useless people sent away from another planet...
Man that's a good book!

Hmm, thats funny... I go back to a long line of beauticians. Maybe we are from the same area?
With the exception of the conclusion, an awesome read. (Maybe this was just because I didn't want it to end?)
