Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Schiek, I sure am glad you got clean of that one. Congratulations. Clearly not at fault -- but more importantly you are alive! On coming cars turning left scares me the most -- one almost took me out years ago (it did kill my bike and one of my teeth; and then left the scene).

The quick fix, if you will. Not exactly how I planned on dressing up the Steamroller (other than the orange tape, natch) but it gets me back on the road.

Basil insisted on being in the picture.

After the run in with the car, the matching wheel was way beyond repair. Saved the hub, but the rim was trash. Another excuse to build a whole new set, I guess.

FOLLOW UP: Just got off the phone with van owner's insurance carrier. They agreed to pay in full and the check is in the mail. As is a new wheelset.

The hound in him keeps Basil looking young and slim. He's almost three.

Are you people not reading the same posts I did? Why are you blaming Schiek? You can't be "expected" to be able to stop and be blamed for not stopping, when a 2 ton barrier jumps in your way.
