Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Yeah but you get two - count 'em, two - Kryptonite locks with it!

That's the problem with custom bikes - they are custom sized for you, and then you want to sell it and say "if you are an inch or two taller or shorter you should be comfy on it". Hellooo? Is that what the builder told you when he sold you the "custom" bike?

Yeesh.

Hee hee hee. This is funny...

" I spent about $2,000 total on this bike and I have treated it like my own child."

"Tires are definately worn and bike has been sitting in storage for a while ..."
Who puts their child in storage?!?!?!

And this...

"I have never ridden it a single time when i did not get at least one compliment on it from a total stranger"
Not a single time, not once! Hey it's not THAT nice of a bike for cripe's sake!!

Just kiddin around...

yes, except this is not a custom bike. It's just a showroom stock bike with a bunch of new parts added on. Even with everything there, he's trying to get every last dollar he put into the bike out of it. Good luck buddy.

Bikes: Converted 1997 Trek Singletrack 930 singlespeed and a Kona Lavadome singlespeed, fixed Dahon folding bike, fixed 27" Miyata road bike, early 70's Raleigh Chopper

It definitely is custom. As in he customized a stock KHS track bike with about $2000 worth of upgrades! Heck, my converted Miele is custom then ain't it?

I kinda figured "custom" meant non-stock parts.

In that case, I have a custom Langster for sale... $2000, I put Speedplay pedals on it. It's custom, dammit. I'll even throw in a Kryptonite lock, for god's sake.

How can you say that? The bike gets at least one compliment per ride from a total stranger. I think it is a bargain at twice the price!

that is a crazy seat angle...how do people ride in SF brakeless? Do they just stay downtown where it is flat?

That seat angle IS a hoot. Consider you are doing a lot of climbing in San Fran.

Come on guys, he is including a PATCH REPAIR KIT in the price! Can't you see the value-added items included in the asking price?

I honestly don't understand why someone would put that kind of money into a low-end track-for-street frame. I mean if you're going to spend $2G, why not start with a nice frame that won't just turn people off later with "Ewww, a Flite 100... Whatever."

But it's not my bike, so good luck pallie.

-Trevor, who rides a totally custom Fuji Track, but with mostly inexpensive parts.
