Best frameset in your opinion.
If you could start with any frameset what would it be.
|
|
I don't know if it's the best but I would totally get this one

Racing? Street riding? Best bang for the buck? The best race frames are probably the Felt TK1 or LOOK 496/596. Then there are BT, Koga, Tiemeyer etc...I could go on. |
I don't care what any of you think. My bike fit also favours it.
Cinelli Mash 55cm. I'm building one this week. Frame is sitting behind me and parts are on their way from the UK. Posting in advance: screw you :) |
Custom built.

Best for me is something that I could afford, like the steel Leader or a Sputnik.
Doc, you better have a new bike day thread soon... |
Dude, I am looking forward to it. Patiently waiting by the door for the parts from the UK.

njs frames are my fav, but i'm not into having a super high performance track frame; just a pretty one
there's also some nice italian frames i wouldn't kick out of bed...torelli, de rosa, colnago, vintage bianchi, vintage masi, etc |
I like my concept and rush, but I have to give my favorite to lupin's steep frame/woundup fork.
|
my heart skipped a beat at the sight of that yamaguchi.
But yea.. best frame is custom made. |
Everyone will have a different opinion, but I think the best mass-produced / non-custom frameset for the money (and within reason if you're not a professional racer):
Easily T1 or S-Works Langster... The S-Works is lighter but the T1 has a steeper headtube. The BMC is garbage, it's carbon epoxied to aluminum lugs (one broke in two during a women's race) and sorry but I don't think the cinelli is that great either. |

In BMC's defense, no race bike could have survived that particular crash, the way the bike was whipping to the ground with that force.
Also, if you're lucky and can find a 2007 S-Works Langster complete, jump on it - they're typically priced pretty VERY REASONABLY because of age. I got one for $1400 and it came with Zipp 404s, D/A cranks (Omnium's in Japan) and so on... |
Love Italian steel

MINE! cause it was FREE, MADE IN USA, and a SCHWINN |
that yamaguchi is ruined by that fork x stem collabo.
|
Well for street use and since I'm from the bay area, I would go for a custom homegrown Broakland Pipe Bomb...
http://projectfd.com/wp-content/uplo.../broakland.jpg For track use, I would have to go for custom built aswell from Yamaguchi. |

I dont care if its a rebranded ftp, the color is just too pretty! otherwise i'd kill for some nice kinfolk frame. http://prollyisnotprobably.com/2010/...PINP-thumb.jpg |

Ok, that's true. But does the "technology" not remind you of an updated Allez Epic? I think the durability was one of the reasons QBP stopped carrying them... And correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think BMC even makes them anymore?
Yeah, it's not on their website. |
Yea the stem deal on the Yamaguchi is pretty ugly, but I dig the frame a lot.

I didn't think so until I held the frame/fork in my hands. Then scrutinizing the geometry and my fit sealed the deal. It's a nicely made frame for doing exactly what I do with a fixed. Recently, I rode a Gazzetta that my friends has and it was a nice ride, looks good etc. There are five categories for "best frame" Coffee Modern Track Bomber Vintage NJS |
what ever frame matches my veeps
|
clearly, the mercier kilo tt is the best.

What if one was a roadie (who favors crits) and wanted to get into track racing, say points races? The Felt?
