Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Bikes: 1986 Fuji Allegro 12 Spd; 2015 Bianchi Kuma 27.2 24 Spd; 1997 Fuji MX-200 21 Spd; 2010 Vilano SS/FG 46/16

As for cars in those situations, I slow down, make eye contact and wave them to go. No thinking about whether or not they'll stop, yield right of way and stay stopped. Seems to have worked my entire life, never had a problem in that regard. A lot of times they'll insist I go when it gets to communicating with hand signals waving them to go. That's when I know I've encountered a courteous driver.

those are some good deals. I'd like to get both, but I don't have the dough at the moment. I can't find any info about my crankset/bb online, but on the SE website it says 3pc FSA Vero crankset with Euro sealed BB. That doesn't help at all does it?

I'd suggest you take a look/pictures of the BB any numbers or identifying marks should narrow it down. From what I read the majority of square taper BB's are 68mm wide the oversize variant is 70mm width. It's the euro part that's less specific - I do see some indications that euro = english/british thread, if this is true you are golden for the stuff I've posted - and you can get a "real" crank in there. The S100 is as cheap as I would consider at $66 for the Crank and BB, that's going to be hard to beat for something that gets you off the square taper wobble wagon. The S300 is a road bike crank with one chainring, a very nicely engineered crank with the GXP outboard bearing cups and the very stout hollow spindle for maximum stiffness. The only way to get tougher would be a downhill or BMX crank, these will be HEAVY though. You won't flex a s300 spindle and they don't loosen up on there own - although they are easy to work on with just one self extracting bolt.

You never said what's wrong with your cranks or BB, why the need to put something else in there?

well, honestly, I'm sitting here looking at my bike with the new cog and fw and I'm getting this whisper in my ear. "make it faster, make it lighter, make it stronger... We have the technology..." my wife is vetoing getting expensive wheels, so I'm thinking "what else on this bike could be upgraded cheaply?" so, I was going with cranks and bb. I just like to tinker with things and make them better. You don't even want to know about the time I made a cooling sstem for my old pc... I can't pop the bb for a couple reasons. 1, I have a limited tool kit at the moment, and 2, I only have one usable arm. As soon as I can pop it or ask the shop I'll let you all know.
