If you are going to go adhd style, go all out adhd style, for example get another color toe strap say purple or orange to compliment the green. That thing is begging you to get a colored chain, maybe multi-colored. Hell, how about multi-colored chainring bolts. Mixmatch tire colors would be consistent with the rest of the bike. Of course, after you do all that you will need bigger toe clips for your clown shoes.

its carbon fiber lol. it was made for the team in the 80's and its not really a raliegh but it never was a production bike. the late 80's version said huffy on it but was built by whatever high end framebuilders built this thing. it doesn't touch its just a bad picture. i could use a half link if i put another link in its so slack i can't get it tight.

It has nothing to do with how they look but how they work. Straps are meant to be pulled tight once you've inserted your foot and then loosened when you want to remove it. You pull up on the stap to tighten it and the buckle will hold it tight until you push down on the buckle latch to release it. If the strap were reversed, you'd have to pull down on the strap to tighten it, which is hard to do. A lot of people never bother to tighten or loosen the straps, such that they provide very little benefit and are pretty much little more than decoration. To make matters worse, you are riding brakeless, and you can't pull back hard to brake with your forward foot if your shoes aren't strapped in securely.

Also, track drops belong only on the track and are just plain silly anywhere else.

Unless you are leaning against a pole or other stationary object how would one be able to pull up on both straps (on each side)?
I know thats technically what Your supposed to do I and would like to know to do it on both sides once moving? I have found that I generally size the straps for one pair of my shoes and "kick" into the straps to firmly secure them once moving.
Please any videos links? And I wont even mention the velcro straps.

History Lesson: Before clipless pedals were invented, cyclists used toe clips and straps for foot retention. They wore shoes with slotted cleats, which the ridge on the back of the pedal would slip into to secure the foot. Then, they would reach down and tighten the straps. When done properly, this ensures that your feet are never detaching from the pedal unless you loosen the strap. They would do this one foot at a time. Not many people do this anymore (except in Japanese Keirin), because clipless systems are so much lighter and easier to use.

You pedal slowly forward. Kick both feet into the clips like you normally do.
And as one foot is coming through the top of the pedal stroke (say between 11 o'clock and 1 o'clock) you reach down on that side and give the strap a tug.
Then, you continue pedaling forward.
And in half a revolution the opposite foot will be coming through the top of the pedal stroke, and you reach down on that side and give the strap a tug.

Properly securing toe straps is not something you can do effectively while mashing away from a stop light in traffic, no.
But if you're competent on the bike, you should be able to reach down to tighten the straps after you've "kicked into them", on the move.

Riding with properly secured straps is really the only reason to track stand at traffic lights, because getting into/out of them actually takes more than a second. If you're riding loose clips or clipless, you should be able to get into them from a stop at nearly full power, which makes trackstanding not worth it.

The rack is used for one thing: locks. If I carry one lock it's on my bag. But two locks get too heavy to drag around. My bike lives on the street from 9-5 so I lock that ***** down tight.

Do you ride to the same place every day? when i was in this boat a had an ultra beefy lock which i left locked to the bike rack and carried my mini U around the rest of the time, making double locking much lighter.
