tl;dr It'll work out, right? |
worst case scenario you leave a tad more steerer tube on to avoid a big saddle to bar drop and may end up buying a longer stem. I think scrod is 5'11 or so and rode a 58 too :o

unfortunately I don't think anyone here is going to be able to answer that question for you. I really think it will be manageable though

Thanks for the help. I think I am going to return the frame and exchange it for a 58cm size. I'd rather pay extra for a frame that will fit me well rather than building up something that I'm not super happy about. Just a delay on my summer project :/
|
aside from aesthetics, is there anything wrong with the 727 frame (compared to 725 for instance)? I have a steel Windsor and I am looking to build an aluminum bike. I like the 725 but I believe I need a 61 frame (im 6'4) and I only can find a 58.
Thanks, Great bikes in this thread btw. Cheers, Justin |
If you need a 61 frame, don't deal with a frame you don't like the look of. It isn't that rare of a frame size.

Thank you for your response. Cheers, Justin |
Also, can anyone comment on sizing, I have a 58 Windsor The Hour (which fits me very well) & a XL Giant TCX (which might be slightly too big for me) and I am trying to figure out what size frame to get.
Thanks, Justin |
i'm about the same height as you and ride a 61cm 722, assuming the frames are similar geometry i don't think you'll be comfortable on the 58

I should have clarified. I like the way it looks, however, the few responses to the frame I have read have been it is undesirable looks. I just wanted to clarify that it is merely cosmetic reasons that people might not like it, not of any structural or any other type of issues.
Thank you for your response. Cheers, Justin |

Yeah, it's ugly. That's a perfectly good reason not to buy one, IMO.

Nonetheless the only reason I have it in the first place is because of the coghouse no reserve penny auctions for slightly blemished frames; I got it for less than $100 picked up. I would've not paid MSRP; which FYI was priced higher than the 725's. |

Its awaiting S500 brake levers and brake, eventually its own wheelset, a 3T Dorico pro seatpost, and 3T ergonova handlebars to complete the 3T cockpit. but thats all I can think of that I want to change.
