Yes its pretty and steel. But it will never be $1900 pretty.

EDIT: Any and all Langsters bought at the last year MSRP of $830 got owned. Its still a good bike in my opinion, but nowhere close to a 850$ bike.

Nobody really knows how they did it. (I'm sure somebody does, but no one on the FG scene cares). They raced these:

Everyone already knows this, but the guys from MASH are cycling their way across California right now. I love it. I'll never understand why people chat so much **** on MASH. Theses dudes live bikes.

...win.

So, Banzai, that's why I'm not so keen on MASH bikes. They aren't better than comparable less expensive bikes...which is the point of the whole thread.

Scrodzilla 01-11-11 11:49 PM

carleton - you've done well. Time to hit them rollers.

Something good came out of all of those marketing hype though; it made young people get out and ride their bikes. Teenagers are so drawn to their video games and all sort of virtual escapes but riding bikes are totally a joyous experience and is way better than sitting in front of the TV the whole ****ing day kill zombies or hitting a hooker or all other sort of video games.

You can prove all your point all you want but people like to have fun and if a MASH is the way to do it for them, then so be it.

Scrodzilla 01-11-11 11:57 PM

When is there going to be a MASH video game?

This.

I hate that cyclists are so divided. They are ALL machines with two wheels, a steering wheel, brakes, and pedals powered by the rider. I think that to say you believe your niche of cycling is the best/only way to cycle is a strong indicator that you have bought into some sort of marketing hype somewhere along the way.

Sorry, I missed this.

I don't have any of my BMX stuff online. Just one in my flickr (I purge my flickr all the time).

This ran as a two-page spread in RideUK years ago:

M*A*S*H
For Atari 2600 Video Game System
1983 Fox Video Games Incorporated
This video game for 1 or 2 players had three different screens. On one screen, players move helicopters around trees to pick up wounded before returning to base. Or you could choose another screen in which wounded drop from the top with a tank firing at the bottom. Players fly mini helicopters around the field catching as many wounded as possible. In-between rounds of rescuing wounded, players work against the clock on the operating table. Here players use a surgical instrument to remove a bullet from patient after patient through a maze in each patient.

I hate it when its assumed two people with different opinions are against each other. Nobody ever once said anything negative towards the other. They were defending their opinion just as any human does every single day. This "division" is simply a product of perspective.

That's an awesome pic. But take away all the photography and crowd and you don't really have an interesting pic. Marketing?

What product is being sold in my photo above? Who is the manufacturer?

Squirrelli 01-12-11 12:11 AM

Tree merchant.

Vaguely put the photo is selling the allure of BMX and the manufacturer is the culture - or in this case, the photographer.

(I'm reaching here)
