I feel like a jackass for not understanding whats jackass about half of these bikes. I lol'd at the quote hard though.

jimmytango 11-12-11 10:16 PM

Hellz yeah it's faster!

GMJ 11-13-11 02:20 AM

Yeah. It's fast too.

The lightning version didn't seem that bad to me. I'm guessing the bullhorn version was just somebody messing around by taking the stem/bars off their tri bike and seeing what it looked like.

Scrodzilla 11-13-11 10:45 AM

I doubt it.

IIRC - the title of the original thread mentioned both tarck and jackass.

Here, let's have a look at this:

Beautiful. I know what my next frame will be.

GMJ 11-15-11 12:18 PM

That frameset would go pretty well with my new jeans too.

Out of curiosity, is my road bike jackass, even if I lock it up properly?

http://i787.photobucket.com/albums/y...ley/green4.jpg

What about my cruiser? I plan to eventually move the yellow rims from the road bike over to this one (you can't see in this pic, but current rims are black), get a yellow Selle An-atomica saddle, and maybe a yellow chain after the current chain is done. Will that make this bike jackass?

It seems that there are a lot of color schemed bikes in the Post Your SS/FG thread that get a fair amount of praise. What makes one color scheme OK and another bad?

homebrewk 11-15-11 07:05 PM

I suppose it would be the POS lock and yellow-scheme in general. If that bike looked anything like your bike it would not have landed in the jackass thread.

homebrewk 11-15-11 07:06 PM

...and don't forget the seat. ;)

GriddleCakes 11-15-11 07:35 PM

Yeah, the seat certainly looks out of place and kind of ugly on that bike, but if the rider finds it comfortable then I would understand not changing it. Overall the bike looks practical and comfortable, unlike a lot of the rides in this thread.

As for the color scheme, well I obviously like yellow, so I guess that that's an eye of the beholder thing. That pic of the cruiser is too dark to show how really obnoxiously bright the green is on that frame; it's like a dayglo lime green. About half the people who comment on my bike think that it's a nice looking ride with a horribly ugly paint job. Whatevs, I'm a child of the 80s and I like bright colors; don't blame me, blame my culture.

Dumbass lock jobs are a dime a dozen around here; about a month ago I saw a bike locked to a strand of rope, and last week on campus someone chained their bike to a 4 foot tall metal pole right next to the bike rack. That one was so dumb that I wanted to ride it to the other end of the quad, just to teach the cyclist a lesson. If the recycling center actually paid out for aluminum up here, I could make a killing stealing Magnas and Trailmasters from the campus alone.

You don't want to know... :innocent:

GriddleCakes 11-15-11 08:09 PM

Anyway, I don't ride fixed or SS, so I probably shouldn't be posting in here. I'll just leave this here and go back to lurking.
