Std. or inverted northroad bars on the single speed

Wondering if anyone has tried this?
The bullhorns stretch me out too darn far and finding the right width on the flats is driving me nuts.
My vintage letour tourist has the northroad setup and I really like it.
I tried a steel northroad inverted (almost moustache) with a shorty stem and may have found the answer.(albeit in alloy as I want to keep the weight down anywhere I can)

I fixed up an old Schwinn to give to my cousin; it had those same bars. I've been searching for more ever since. It was probably the most comfortable setup I've ever tried, and it felt fast too!

North Road bars down:

the bars are too narrow for just bartape.

Same bike but bars are up:

I put some cork grips on later; much, much better. Black rubber ones would've worked great, too.

I'm also looking at Porteur alloy bars.
Like the clean swept back design.

I have ridden a bike with those type of "cruiser" bars flipped and it felt too much like driving a wheelbarrow.
