Tore apart my commuter conversion and found significant amounts of rust. Transferred some parts from the rusty commuter (drivetrain, wheels, bars), and took some parts out of the parts bin (stem, post, brake lever + caliper) and made this little monster. Trying out a new saddle on it. Pretty light toy (17.5 pounds) considering steel frameset, stem, post, cheap cranks, and bomb-proof clincher wheels. And yes, the brake seems to work ok that way (I think)

It's raining outside, thus the indoor shot.

Thanks, I have RED cranks on my Ruben, and Shimano 600 Tri-Color cranks on my 722... I had Touros for awhile on two of my bikes, but no serious mileage on any yet. I prefer outboard bottom brackets over square or powerspline

That's light!

Can't figure what frame that is though. Is it a custom one?

Yes it was a custom build made about 5 years ago, Jonny Cycles in Wisconsin (now retired).

Here's the original build:

I actually built this up a few days ago (but with a different saddle) and it was as if I brought new life into the frame. It was a lot of fun!

We started with a Masticating Omega, and then my mom gave us a Centrifugal Omega... but that shiz is ridiculous to clean out! . . . Actually picked up the Masticating motor at a garage sale for $5! Just haven't invested in all the parts

Masticating:

Tubing...
Head Tube: Dedacciai Zero Uno 1.0 (polished stainless)
Top Tube: Dedacciai Zero 28.6
Seat Tube: Dedacciai Zero Uno 28.6
Down Tube: Dedacciai Zero Uno 31.8
Chain-stay: Dedacciai TRE
Seat-stay: Dedacciai Zero

Lugs...
Long Shen long point lugset.
Fork uses a modified Pacenti crown (we designed a canine tooth out of it)

As far as geometry goes I have all the angles but I assume you don't care about that. It's a basic track geometry. Nothing extreme.

Custom makes a lot of sense. First, people assume things are way more expensive then they are. You're already paying $500+ for your off the shelf frame. Double that and you've pretty much paid for a custom frame from "normal" framemakers (not the super famous, 10 year waiting list ones). You get exactly what you want and learn a bit in the process.

Nice! Of course the only thing I know about is Long Shen lugs.

I want to know the geometry too! BB drop, chainstay lengths, tubing lengths and all the good stuff.

Well, at least if my house burns down I'll have a copy of the geo online I've never seen someone so interested in the details before

Are those SKS RaceBlade fenders? I won the SKS contest on MTBR and I think these would best.
