Southwick, right on Lake Congamond. There is a bike trail that runs from Simsbury into Westfield now that's a few hundred feet from my house, I like to cruise up and down it on the fixed. I save the "hills" into Granville and Tolland for the geared bikes.

So my confession for this post is I like to cruise the MUP on my sweet fixie and sup the hot chicks that walk/run it.

oh man I grew up in Granville! Gnarliest hills around, I live right over the top of the big hill in the center of town going down that thing on a huffy when you're 10 was instant bamf status. I grew up racing enduro's/harescrambles and granville is a great dirt bike town. southwick highschool '04 woot! when were you there?

Confession: I only bought a bike because I don't live somewhere where I can have a dirt bike right now. It is not nearly as much fun. Also i think mountain biking is lame unless its downhill. It's like what we do racing trails except in slow motion boooorinngggg

I feel ya.

I just can't wait till the summer is here and my fenders could really go **** themselves for poking my in the shins.

jdgesus 04-15-11 02:52 PM

they just make most fixed gear bikes look terrible. but i get so soaked without them....

hairnet 04-15-11 02:58 PM

It depends on the build. It you're going for a real sporty tarked out bike, fenders will look like crap.

I was awake. Then I completely crashed and got a couple hours of sleep before work.
Expect a detailed, picture heavy post. It was one of those awesome nights I can talk about here without fear of a ban hammer or legal ramification.

Scrodzilla 04-15-11 03:41 PM

I won't ban you. I promise.

Yeah, well, last night I slept while the rest of the bike community partied. I clearly win

jim-bob 04-15-11 04:41 PM

I build the same bike over and over again. My bikes are all so similar it's a little disheartening sometimes.

I can't seem to get rid of bikes or bags. Every time I pick something up, it's intended to be a replacement, but the thing it's meant to replace never goes away.

I'm running out of space.

hairnet 04-15-11 04:54 PM

give me your stuff

jim-bob 04-15-11 04:55 PM

I like my stuff.

Relyks 04-15-11 05:01 PM

I tried out fixed for the first time today and it scared the crap out of me, but it was fun as heck.

I also went out thinking I was gonna skid no problem. I didn't. I was scared.

I buy lots of parts I don't need, figuring I'll use them "some day" and then get overwhelmed with the clutter and end up selling stuff off on eBay (most often for more than I paid for it, so it works out). I'm sure a lot of us do that though.

I really should take pics of Retrogression HQ sometimes so you guys can see what we're dealing with. Damn place is a beautiful nightmare.

Squirrelli 04-15-11 05:58 PM

"Take a picture of your parts bin/room/closet/drawer thread" is in order.

Scrodzilla 04-15-11 06:04 PM

Holy crap - I'll be taking a lot of pictures!

Apparently a good way to talk to me is:

Are you F***ing crazy! You F***ing Idiot!
But only if you floor it to cut me off at a red light and you drive a large truck.

misskaz 04-16-11 03:26 PM

Confession: I was gonna volunteer for a checkpoint for an alleycat tonight. But it's cold and rainy and I don't want to do it if I get stuck with an outdoor checkpoint.

But I still want to go to the goldsprints afterparty. Heh.

Squirrelli 04-16-11 03:50 PM

goldsprints = fun

i am a road cyclist before i ride fg... but i am used to gears with front and rear brakes. i'd never realized how dangerous it was to ride ss without a rear brake. i may have liked ss had i had the rear brake but it was cheaper to just flop the wheel. so wheel flopped, problem solved. :)

Woke up hung over and hot, couldn't sleep for more then 3 hours. Took an couple excedrine and laid in bed til I could move. Went and looked for my bike, then went to the Kitchen and volunteered. Supped some cute blonde sqrl and helped her get a hot gravel racer style single speed built up. Then rode to Pasadena and went to a kick back, couple of people were playing music, someone was spinning fire. It was just a very awesome day.
