Yeah man, my Elantra is the ****. Gets like 30 mph and is at over 100,000 without any major failures/expenses. Also, the back seat can fit both my bikes!

Happy to hear it, my Tiburon is running steady and can fit two bikes as well.

Yum, poor man's ferrari; no offense meant whatsoever, it's a common saying.

I don't see many of these on the road anymore and lot in the backyards or driveways of people in a non - drivable state..... do they supposedly break down easily?

streetdude 08-01-11 04:15 PM

I drive a 2001 Volvo XC70 and get 20 mpg if I'm lucky. That's something of a confession right there.

Additional confession: I went through the trouble of boxing my bike up in order to take it to Baltimore via Megabus, and only ended up riding it for about four miles to go a used book store.

I used to know a guy that had 4 of these, one for each season!

None taken. I read in a Car and Driver or something of the like from back in the day that the handling was no better than a Civic... but was safer than a Volvo.
I seem to see a lot of them in that state too. A little tear seems to make its way out.

Petition to change the title of this thread.

dontpassthefenc 08-01-11 11:46 PM

to add to the current theme:
I drive my car WAY more than I ride my bike. However, that stands to reason as I spend way more money on car parts and I am a better driver than I am a cyclist. Something about setting off down an empty, winding mountain road at dawn or at dusk with the top down just strikes me as pure bliss.

prooftheory 08-01-11 11:56 PM

What should the new title of the thread be? From "confessions" to "Wallowing in Automobilage/Sin"?

dontpassthefenc 08-02-11 12:01 AM

Oh yea, I forgot to add I am totally gaybones and I drive a girly convertible.

I really dig the Specalized Langster with the sloped top tube and everything.

I sold my Subaru Legacy GT wagon last year and - except when I occasionally drive Angie's WRX - have been pretty much car-free ever since.

Those MR cars love to spin out, they're crazy.

I drive a gas guzzling SUV. I hate it, but free is the right price. It tends to sit in my 60 dollar a month parking spot for weeks at a time.

avner 08-02-11 12:59 PM

I'm ready to go roadie. Kit and all...

Except last time I rode a road bike I hit an island in a parking lot because I couldn't figure out how to stop.

I got myself a caad9, and I ride kit and all, I like it way better than my fixed gear.

They're up to 10 already ? I bought a brand new CAAD3, doesn't seem like that long ago though I did get rid of it 11 years ago. I must be older than I think :o.
