Biked to work for the third straight day today. We just moved so it's 5 miles away now.
Loving every second of it, it's literally a dream come true for me.
We still have a car and it has it's uses. But I will say that for me, driving to work every day was poisoning my soul. We aren't meant to drive.

Today I decided I'm going to spring for some GP4S. Deciding if I want 23mm or 25mm now..
Today I did hill repeat loops. 1:50, 25mi, 3,500ft with this stupidness at the end. The last 1/5th of a mile has an average grade of 21.8%
Gave notice at work. Feels good man! New job starts on the 4/1.

63 mile day. https://app.strava.com/activities/43529562
The two feet into Indiana that I went was enough for me.

**** that. I mean, on the one hand, it looks fun in the way that any challenge is fun. But, I come from a place where you can ride 63 miles with 35 feet of elevation (according to Strava, which isn't the most accurate thing in the world.), and where my all-time biggest climb is 473 feet. I had bigger in Austin, but here, where 99% of my riding has been, it's flat. Therefore, I say **** that.

You obviously don't truly know what "fun" is.
Seriously though, I love long slow climbs up big mountains, followed by fast downhills. Definitely prefer them geared though. That flat land riding seems so boring...

25's it is.
Challenging myself is fun. I enjoy it. Flat riding can be boring to be certain, but imagine how it feels to have a 20mph headwind for 30 miles. I prefer big climbs over that **** because 1: Climbs are predictable, they don't suddenly shift and try to push you into cars. 2: They eventually stop, and you get to go down. Wind just keeps coming. 3: Windburn

Oh yeah, I hate the wind with a passion. At least a mountain can be conquered and done with.
I've had very long days in the saddle in headwinds and you know the thing that i hate the most about it? The noise!

If I'm gonna be on a trail, or in a low-traffic area, I wear earbuds. I have an old ipod full of pounding drum and bass. Great for riding.

Today was a fun 30 miles, and yes the wind wasn't too bad.

Yeah, I've been commuting at least 4 days a week pretty reliably since last June, about the same distance (5.5 miles each way). Dropped 20 pounds without changing my diet one bit and just feel so much better in general. Although I've probably spent more on gear than I would have on gas so it hasn't been any cheaper yet, it's a hell of a lot more fun and rewarding. And this year it'll definitely end up being a lot cheaper too, now that I have all the gear and accessories I need to commute well.
