Been doing that for two years now and never had much trouble with the heat.
Other people do that as well.

love the base layer on long rides
Rode out to the Burnaby Velodrome for their open house today - had a great time learning about the track, etc. On my first lap I nearly blew out on the cote d'azur but somehow recovered - white knuckled it for the following dozen laps or so, riding as fast as I could like my life depended on it. The thought of losing traction on the 47 degree bankings kind of freaked me out for at least the first half of the session. During the second half we were lead out on a pace line at 35 kph (the pace leader had a bike comp installed) and we all marvelled at how 'slow' it felt. I felt much more comfortable in the pace line but maybe that was a combo of having already taken a few spins, getting used to it and having more things to pay attention to (like my placement in the line, matching speeds of the person ahead, etc.)
Overall, it was a pretty fun morning.

thx I puked in my mouth after the line and it was worth it
the course is pretty much an "8" that you circumnavigate (many corners) with the long legs being up and down a hill. the dude that won had an excellent leadout which meant that ppls were just holding on for dear life that last 1/2 lap up hill. I somehow found it in me (probs cause my fam was there) to sprint after the last corner from 5th wheel. it made me puke
it was an awesome race 4 me. spent 4 laps OTF in the first half but im not that strong and no one joined me so I sat up. Lots of shuffling/moving/bumping and being agro about keeping my wheel in the last 5. Last 2 were balls to the wall so when I crossed the line for the bell lap at 5th wheel I knew I had a podium in the bag.

Today I made a loaf of homemade bread and chocolate chip cookies (with and without bacon) and will be bringing them to sell at the Chicago Bike Polo opening day.
I'm not interested in playing polo, but hanging out in a park on a sunny afternoon with bike peeps and raising money for Tiny Fix seems like an excellent day.

having family and/or sqrlfriend around at a race helps... most of my top results are when theyre around.
in an ideal situation I would have used that $120 I scored for nice dinner and drinks w sqrlfriend but im single and beers with friends is very good too. my ex got 2nd in the women's 1/2/3 from a 3 girl break and 3rd in the women 3/4 less than an hour later (sandbagger). We're on good terms though so its cool. She probably got a little weirded out by my parents cheering her on just like last year but it was all good natured.
also bacon chocolate chip cookies? holy crap I want some

Wasn't today... but I did 50 miles with a lot of hills and going down them really destroyed my knees. So, today I decided to save up for a road bike. Track bikes are fun, but hills man.. going down them just sucks.

A lot of those problems can probably be fixed by a experienced fitter if you haven't gotten one already.

I agree, but only if you know what's next. The ride I did I hadn't done before and the hills were literally like 400 feet at a 6% grade with turns, so I couldn't tell if there was an intersection or what...
Bombing is the ****, though.
And **** brakes.

What's actually funny is that when you ride with a brake you are not allowed to back pedal and must use it for all decelerations instead of your legs... its against the rules.
