made my 14th anniversary dinner for the wife: porchetta (herb stuffed pork loin), black truffled potatoes, pearl onions in balsamic reduction. Jamaican rum cake for dessert.

As a chef, I approve. Though if you wanted to do the true porchetta, it should have been the whole animal. However, that's a massive undertaking, so pork loin is good.

Today I stood in the rain for 6 hours and cheered for cyclocross racers. I think I have to try this.

Today I finally pulled the trigger on a chrome Bianchi Pista from Ebay. I have been haggling with the lbs for weeks now and he would only budge so much. I didnt want to go the Ebay route but my pockets are not as deep as they used to be. Good bye to my converted GT fixie hello real deal.

cool . i went to Marist and used to wander down the train tracks to CIA to get wasted w/ the culinary students. my first foodie lessons. i'd love to get some folks to go in on a whole pig for a real porchetta. (missing something w/o the fat mixed in). but i have had some serious lechon at a Filipino guy's house (my knife combat teacher). slow roasted and basted in coconut water. skin comes off like a sweet crispy meat cracker. nomnomnom.... *sigh*

Today I found out my grandfather on my father's side has a brain tumor, doctors say it is likely benign, but they also said that the cancer my grandfather on my mother's side had was the type he could live 20 more years with it. He died way less than a year after diagnosis, so we will see. I am really starting to hate 2011, between a somewhat significant health issue, a hurricane that has the area still picking up the peices and roads still closed, to deaths in the family, I'm ready for this year to go away.

****ty man. Been a few years since I've dealt with cancer in the family, but I know how it goes. Never any fun.

I know exactly how you feel man. This year has blown in a lot of ways. Just remember that you are strong, and that you can pull through. Remember that you have a whole community here that, if I may speak for others, will be a hand to help you up, or a shoulder to lean upon. Be strong and stay positive.

today I watched a lot of football, put some of the gold sprint clips I had together, cleaned up the Soma and adjusted the Leader more and more to try and get it to work. Getting more and more comfortable with each one and I think I may be keeping her now that I'm feeling better on bullhorns. I still need to do a good 40-50 mile on it to see if it's worth it, but the short rides have been so far so good. I've said it before but a 725 on a smooth road feels heavenly.

That dude has owned that domain since 1997: https://www.networksolutions.com/whoi.../fixedgear.com. This was back before the internet boom.

Seems like a spin class instructor (spin bikes use fixed gears).

Can't be mad at that dude.
