Since I had my cranks, wheels, and chain off today I decided to take off my seatpost/seat, stem/bars and brake to see how heavy my frame and fork are. Frickin a. I don't have a scale but it was heavy! On the bright side, knowing that my frame weighs so much compared to my components means that I will have a very light bike when I get a new frame (probably this summer).

I think he just doesn't like the usage of the word "blasted" ;)

homebrewk has a caad 10, who's stem needs flipping :D

JohnDThompson 10-20-11 01:57 PM

Cold & rainy outside, so I overhauled a bucket full of Sturmey-Archer hubs.

Whew, at least it was a small bucket. I was thinking 5 gallon bucket 'til I spotted the little one in the pic ;)

It's my assumption that "blasted" means Sram Red and duals Hed 3's. :p

Sixty Fiver 10-20-11 05:47 PM

Today I scored a new old bike... it had been in storage since before I was born.

I've always figured "blasted" was a more polite replacement for "bloody" in England.

Use in place of damn, frickin', confounded, etc.

today i called the insurance company back after speaking with a few people, with more understandings of contracts and insurances and whatnot than myself, on how to proceed with my claim denial. didnt pull the usual 'FUUUUUUUU YOUUUUUUUU' scream into the phone and stuck to the script[forreals, i had one - catch bees with honey not vinegar blahblah]. my one friend who works in insurance told me what to ask and what to say and when they did exactly what he said they would do i kept cool and took control. o whoops denied claim reopened new assessment by my own contractors paid for by them. working on a hotel room up the street so my kids can go back to school[they are an hour by car away at my parents now] then i moved every piece of furniture on the main floor of my house to the basement and everything in my kids room into the wife and i's room. roofer will be here and im kicking holes in the wall tomorrow.

i've never been good at talking when really upset[usually yell loud or physical fight, real talk i learned it from pops] and after the phone call and keeping cool all the time i felt real good. ryu stage theme music. yeeee

I have this same issue, I tend to go quiet, though, and would rather physically fight it out and let off steam than have a civil discussion.

Good for you, though. Insurance companies are a pain in the ass to deal with. I worked in a rehab cl inic in Astoria, so much bullshit you had to go through for patients.

EDIT: Physical rehab, not drug rehab.

Hed 3's may look nice but are very unpleasant to ride with on windy says. From experience, in stronger crosswinds you'll find yourself fighting to stay straight/ upright. Even in moderate winds, you will notice and compensate for. You might want to save for carbon clinchers with spokes instead.

My computer's in Chinese, and, if you hit space while trying to shift, it changes it to that font for some ungodly reason, but I kept typing with it anyway.

BTW, anyone from the San Jose area going to that bike thing tomorrow? I am going to be up there because this girl from base invited me, thought I could meet some peepz.

Have you tried to change the language mode in your language bar (in the start bar) between typing in chinese and english instead of switching in the translator program? That usually does the trick.

How in the world do you keep finding these old bikes?

Today brought forth a productive road ride, looking forward to tomorrow's road ride.

I've got bike from the 1980's, 1970's. Need to find one from the 1990's, 1960's, 1950's.

Alt+Enter switches between languages for me, but using the Chinese font is fine, as long as I don't accidentally hit Shift+Space. :)

Yeah, I've heard crosswinds and wheels such as Hed 3's really don't play nice together.

The next thing I will do to the CAAD10 is get a proper fit (so Jaytron will shut up) and get a new saddle. The stock one is like a ******* hatchet.

EpicSchwinn 10-20-11 07:49 PM

Tonight I'm going to take my bike downtown and take some pics. I need a break from stressing about school.

congrats on getting your way from the people who owed it to you. people hate to do their job when you get angry at them for not doing it.

Today we won our meet and got another state cut under our belt.

I sold my 1948 Raleigh and 1932 CCM and used to have a bike from every decade dating back to the 30's.

I have five 1950's bikes... three Raleighs ('50, '54, and '55), a '57 Peugeot, and a '51 CCM.

Don't have any 60's bikes and think a PX10 or Paramount would fill that gap nicely and need something from the 40's like a vintage track bike.

Have a bunch from the seventies and eighties as these are easier to find than 40's and 50's models and have a few 90's and an '01.

The "new" Raleigh comes with a nice story...

A Little Snapshot...

Naw, **** bike party. If you go, be careful. A lot of drunk people, and just generally people that can't ride in a straight line. Assume that everyone is about to hit you. Bike party is the reason I had to build a new road bike and couldn't ride a bike for half my summer.
