Ugh, I took the train to work today as a "reward" for racing yesterday. Somehow I always forget how much worse my public transit commutes are. Should have just gotten on the ****ing bike.

Another...

Today I found a Bridgestone / Kabuki track frame (with fork) in my size... happy freaking birthday to me.

It's a little scruffy and needed a little alignment (done) but should be a fun project... think I have pretty much everything I need to build it up and will have a use for those Major Taylor bars I have.

:D

Today I did my longest ride (a measly 40 miles) down a scenic trail ending at a lighthouse and fort dating back to the Revolution. I'll be hurting tomorrow, and now I want a new saddle. Great day.

Today I put in 64 miles with a ton of climbing. May do the same tomorrow.

striknein 10-24-11 10:19 PM

Today I built my first wheel. Double-wall rim, 32h 3-cross to a road hub. It was terrifying.

calv 10-24-11 10:23 PM

Today, I put up a boatload of items on ebay, craigslist, and some other forums.

Got somebody who wants to look at my Kilo frame located in the same city.

But for real, that's awesome. All I have seen are ****ty locals at small raves downtown.

Civilian.D 10-25-11 10:22 AM

Today I woke up and was grumpy that it dropped below freezing for the first time last night. Then I went to lab and poked at a pig heart, then did some ABO type blood testing. Now it's 10.15am and I just finished breakfast, and am home studying for a midterm this afternoon and eagerly awaiting the UPS guy w/ my new Kilo. At least it's at the 'out for delivery' stage on the tracking page and I can quit refreshing it every 10 minutes to make sure it was actually gonna make it here today. Later I will assemble my new ride and go to kick a midterms ass, then take a leisurely ride along the river with some tunes afterwards when it should be up into the high 50's and nice out.

That is if I can survive this waiting part. I'm so impatient.... :bang:

ddeadserious 10-25-11 10:59 AM

Today, I woke up and didn't ride my bike to class because it's supposed to rain. Then I discovered I only need 2 classes next semester until I graduate.

Doomride 10-25-11 01:11 PM

Calculating funds to see how much of my next check I can blow on bike crap. It's lookin good :) After work, it's class time, and head home for a nap. Wake up, make some dinner and make a shopping cart. Go for a ride with a buddy and chill with some coffee.

Today I found out that my LBS got my new Brougham in, and that they're putting it together for me tomorrow. That means I need to go to the UPS facility after work to put up my new U-Lock. Can't wait to be back on a bike again!

SSbalt 10-25-11 01:19 PM

Today I: Woke up hungover(yay Monday night boozing) to my dog going ape-****...

Investigated the matter and realized there was a UPS truck delivering my Windsor Hour:thumb:. My first fixie.

In the process of building it up as we speak. I'd take pics but its just stock - so use your imagination.

Thanks! I'm definitely impatient as well, but I definitely wouldn't trust myself to be able to put the bike together. It was actually included in their normal shipment from Felt, so I need to finalize the size/color, pay for it, then ride it home!

Took an exam I didn't know about until literally the minute before I took it.

Managerial Accounting. I didn't feel too good about it but I think my tires are coming in today, so all is gravy :)

Got hired at the local Bike store: Neighborhood Bike Works. I'm going to be running the "bike salons" every wed night if any of you are familiar with that, as well as working on bikes during regular shop hours within the week.
I got lucky with a higher position of employment opposed to the entry level position, and once adequately trained I will be the one to interview and train possible employees in the future.

I start tomorrow. :)

Today I started hitting the gym again. Did a two mile run and a few sets each of seated leg press, chest press, and back row. Feelin' good.

Sixty Fiver 10-25-11 03:09 PM

Today I scored two NOS Ukai box section rims, skinny as hell and double walled.

These things are the bomb and should build up nicely to provide me with some bulletproof wheels for the Kabuki.

Thats awesome for you!

I tried to work at my local bike shop (was just recently built in my suburb.) They said no because the manager, and I quote "didn't believe I could sell bikes to older people using a bike as an outlet to coup with the death of their spouse." WTF?? I've lived in my suburb for a long time and RARLY see elderly people riding bicycles.

They told me no, and hired a guy I went to high school with who has 200 pounds on me. Me, skinny cyclist that has and is building both a road and cross bike + beginning to ride track, and hired a guy who I can guarantee hasn't been on a bike since middle school.

Ah well /end rant, on to better things. I got a better job anyway!
