Had a closer encounter with a raccoon in my backyard. Thought it was my cat, so went about the "Aww, come inside little guy," routine while making dumb cat noises. Flicked on the light and realized it was about the size of a nice dog, went "OH ****!!!" and it fell out of the tree and ran away.

whoa. not good. seen too many pets killed by racoons. our answer was to pop one in their head, put'em in a vinegar brine and bake wrapped in tin foil. makes them much more friendly and tasty. :)

why, no spring tension holes? you can do shorty ultimates... ain't nothing pauls can do that shorty ultimates can't.

The spring holes aren on the outside of the studs, opposite of practically every brake (thanks, Raleigh!). I have been looking for anything that doesn't use the spring tension holes. I didn't even think about SRAM, thanks

Today I got into an accident with another cyclist and almost jacked him in the face for being an idiot. Close call. :(

But now my SLR is very scuffed up and I'm upset.

homebrewk 10-27-11 01:28 PM

Well that sucks.

I'll gladly take your beat up SLR though...

today a good friend of a friend came by to give me some tips on installing flooring.

he then proceeded to explain how the original[and in my opinion, destroyed] 3/4" 1940s hardwood that was under my old carpet could be restored. he starts mid next week for half the price of what i was going to spend on flooring in the first place. :D

im about to start putting up my ceiling and all the wallboard but i think i had too many tallboys this afternoon to be effective. good thing someone who knows what they are doing is coming over.

That kid didn't even look behind him before he veered across the lanes. There was a bus coming behind us, too, but fortunately I ended up in the opposing bike lane with no cars coming.

1.5" tear to the plastic. This is after I used a whole buncha clear nail polish to stick things back together.

Today I got my first bee sting of my life.

I was riding around, talking to a friend, and a bee flew into my mouth, and stung my tongue before I spat it out. What the hell are the chances?

Also, I lost one of my lizardskins bar ends.

jdgesus 10-27-11 09:55 PM

ouch!
i also have never been stung... well, you now have been stung, so i should not say "i also...."

It hurt like hell for a short bit, now it's just annoying. Not too bad. Good thing I wasn't deathly allergic to stings or anything.

Today I: Took my brand new fixie out for its 2nd ride. I'm still a little intimidated by not having a conventional braking method, so I might just add a front break until I get more comfortable.

Also realized I had my saddle way too high. I adjusted it a good 2 inches lower when I got back to the house, so we'll see how it feels tomorrow.

Overall it feels great to be back on a bike though, super stoked to have that feeling I've missed since I was in middle school

If you're not talking about this kind of asian pear you're missing out on life:

Only fruit that we should be talking about are donut peaches.

Best. Peach. Ever.

And I know there's probably a better forum for this, but I like you fools. What are people's thoughts on the Giant TCX 2?
http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-us/....2/9022/48878/
My friend's older brother was looking into one, since he said he works closer to home and in downtown now, so driving is pointless. He said he was looking more for a cyclocross bike, was looking at the TCX 2 more specifically because of Taiwanese pride (his words).

They're very expensive through compared to their rotund counterparts.

One time a bee landed on my neck and stung me. At first I thought my headphones were shocking me, but it kept hurting for a few seconds so I grabbed at my neck and pinched a bee up. Ended my ride pretty promptly.
