Today was fun, but a bit aggravating, rear wheel on the mtb is pretty much toast.

So you're riding with what is pretty much electrical tape? :/ What's the point of tape if you take off the padding.

I don't usually get tape for padding. More for the grip. It had fizik on there before which got slippery when wet but this tape is actually really grippy.

Craigslist is pretty sketch. eBay FTW.

It can be sketch but it varies a lot by your location. Back home, craigslist can fetch much more $ than eBay and the bike section gets a lot of hits. I'm almost tempted to move bikes across the state whenever I can. East side to west side seems to double or triple bike value in WA.

today i rode bike instead of working

Lilcphoto 10-17-11 10:05 PM

I wanted to do that...but I had to "work". Man it was a beautiful day today!

ddeadserious 10-17-11 10:13 PM

Today, I rode onto a bit of grass and into a rut which stopped me immediately, where I attempted to dismount, and my jean crotch caught on the nose of my seat, and I sufficiently messed up my knee hopping and trying not to fall like an idiot. Not sure what I did, but I rode my bike the 1/3 of a mile home and my knee has progressively hurt more as I sit here. Icing it now and it seems to feel a little better but I'm not sure. Cool.

Speaking of work, I'm swamped with grading today... F this place, I can't wait to finish my thesis and GTFO.

@deaddserious, down to the seconds are we?

You should try the C&V What's it Worth subforum.

But, while I'm at it. If you're buying $20. If you're selling $400.

Today: I saw Bane. Got into a fight with a sXe jackoff that didn't think I should have been drinking while his friend's ****ty XsXeXhXcX band was playing. I hate fighting, but when you knock my beer out of my hand and scream "what are you gonna do about it you alcoholic ******" into my face, you're gonna get hit. Hard. And repeatedly. Bane was awesome though. Scrod, message delivered. Aaron says he needs to hang out with you more often.

Outside of the venue, right after the fight, two guys were locking bikes next to mine while mocking my (mostly stock) Lager. I was gonna say something, but I had just gotten into a fight and I was still pretty amped up from that so I let it go. Funny thing is that these guys had the tarckiest, most jackass builds I've ever seen. Leader 735 and MASH, both with B43s, cut down risers with no grips or plugs, stubby stems, no brakes and platforms with no straps. At least my bike is functional. ********. Now it's time to go drink more! Yay!

Wow on my way back from class, I was being a dumbass and swerving on an emply flat road. I swerved to hard and I guess my rear wheel whipped to the left and I almost lost control. Right when it happened I was like "****, I'm going to fall." luckily I didn't!

Thanks guys! I'll take some proper pictures when it's all said and done. First bike build, also first time wrapping bars, hopefully I don't ruin my Lizardskins :C

Just putting in some insight.
I have lots of experience with the tape; I've always cleaned my bars, even new, with alcohol and let it fully evaporate after drying in preparation for the tape.
When it comes to wrapping, even though the package says not to stretch the tape, it can and has to be stretched slightly in order for the tape to not start unraveling (that's what happened to you I presume?). The trick with stretching it is to regulate the force you use to stretch the tape while wrapping so the tape does not outstretch and become thin while still being able to sufficiently cling itself via the underside adhesive contacting itself with the bar and the cling from the stretch.
Upon finishing, you should use the larger than usual provided adhesive strip to wrap the entirety of it's width on the tape itself at the top with even pressure (consult above so you do not compress the underlying tape as well; ~~the adhesive strip does not need to make contact with the bar to ensure maximum hold on the tape.

Also make sure the adhesive strip under the tape attaches to the bar, not the tape itself. And apply some pressure over the tape to make sure that adhesive makes proper contact for adhesion that does not unravel.

Well what's the use of knowledge when you can't spread it? I can't admit to that second part through. =S :p
Aha in due time.
