You don't have to live in Jersey. Today I rode my bike from Philly to NJ and back. Not very far into Jersey of course, but still.

Street rider 11-21-11 11:32 PM

Today I got an email from the professor of the only class I have tomorrow, and its cancelled. I made the two hour drive back to school today for nothing, and could have stayed home all week.

FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

yummygooey 11-22-11 12:09 AM

There is no way I would have driven two hours for one class, lol.

Unless I had to turn something in...

calv 11-22-11 12:21 AM

I was one of the unfortunate classes today at UC Davis who didn't get their classes cancelled due to the Occupy movement. Did you guys hear about some of our campus' students get peppersprayed in the face only like 3 feet away? (Usually supposed to be at least 10, or so I hear).

I even heard the officer who was doing the spraying got it into their mouths. The chancellor and Davis police are such a joke.

This happened just Friday on our main quad. **** was crazy!

Got that right. Depending on the field, if you are really good at your job, the money will come. Sometimes though, no matter how damn good you are at your job, your pay won't reflect that.

LesterOfPuppets 11-22-11 12:33 AM

Yeah, those Officer Pike pics are pretty *****en!

The three newest ones I've seen:

That video is so harsh. The worst part is where he's getting pepper spray hand-ups. Like he's gonna go on a spray spree of incredible proportions!

Tech salaries are still higher in the bay area. I work in software, and worked in Santa Rosa for about 5 years (60 miles north of San Francisco). I quit that job and moved to Illinois and got an equivilant job there. 6 years later I've only recently broke the salary I was making in California. Cost of leaving is significantly cheaper though. I can buy a decent house here for ~$250k whereas in Santa Rosa median house price for a very CRAPPY house was ~$500k. You'd need about $550 to get what I have here. We're talking $1500 mortgage vs. $3000+ mortgage ($18,000+ annually ignoring taxes and interest)

She said I could go surgery or not at this point (two opinions) and I opted against surgery.

I had a bad break six months ago, I know surgery sucks but if I could go back I would have done it. It will heal faster and better, that will take forever to grow back together.

Today I gave a ****ty 5 minute presentation in my ethics class.

I also discovered TreeFortBikes.com is relatively local to me, which makes me happy that I may not have to order everything online.

But seriously, line cooks making 32.5? That's nuts man. I don't know if you know fine dining at all or not, but line cooks at Alinea (among the best restaurants in the world, and they pay very competitively) make 26.5 a year. Average for a Chicago line cook is around 23 yearly.

Most cooks make around the same. But I was recently managing a few cooks making 16 and 17 dollars an hour. They have been with the company for 11-15 years. This is in a casual dining franchise.

Cost of living is insane here...and for the high cost you are rewarded with a less than stellar quality of life. A win-win.

Today I woke up and almost all the snow was melted and it wasn't raining. RIDING THE RUSH AGAIN :D:D:D:D

Sekigahara 11-22-11 02:54 PM

Today I contacted the seller for the bike I'm looking to purchase and I'm planning on meeting with him tomorrow. I also called a local auto painting company to get quotes for powdercoating my frame + fork + components.

I partially finished the front panel on my backpack!
Front panel is done? Ok I'm missing a flap on the top pocket! And..I need more seam allowance on 2 middle/wide pockets. Wheres my seam ripper at? Anyways this thing is going to be a bombproof beast 5-7lbs. Take that Chrome/Mission Workshop!
Ballistic nylon is prob overkill for lining/pockets. The bottom 4 pockets are waterproof- seam sealing took about 1 hour alone. More velcro, main gussets, binding, straps, and more 3M Scotchlite. I also plan on making a matching phone and wallet mini case to fit on the shoulder straps so I dont have to take the bag off to find them!http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=227935:D

Today I rode the train because it was cold and raining. Mistake. Gas leak under the train tracks caused my 35 minute commute to last 2.5 hours. Awesome. Then I found out that the opening got pushed back, yet again. Then I got paid, went to the store, and picked up booze/food for Ye Olde P&D-RPG night. Making pan-seared sea scallops with braised Swiss chard, roasted new potatoes, and a pomagranate-mango buerre blanc. Good times.

seau grateau 11-22-11 07:31 PM

Today I rode in the rain all day. </portait of the hardest as a young man>

xavier853 11-22-11 07:33 PM

Today, I didn't ride my bike. First time in a long time. I was very sad :(

I saw some guy on a real nice steel FG and felt really bad about having not ridden mine in a while. As much hate that FG gets, I can honestly say I love it and will always have one - assuming I dont stop cycling. And I kinda want to put 23mm tires on it again

calv 11-22-11 08:33 PM

i havent had a raise in three years :/ really need more money? sure. i have two boys, what if they both ask to go to astronaut school? my wife works part time and her check pays for food and babysitting when required. i get everything else. i just spent ~$10000 out of my kids college moneys in emergency home renos because insurance is a scam. we dont go on vacations. we dont eat out barely ever. i have basic cable. i drive a diesel. we are still barely saving. and now i am forreals back where i was way before my kids were born. sure, i need more money.

Wouldn't your expertise be easily transferable to other similar high end (German) cars?

the work makes me happy, im saying what if i eventually get frustrated due to no progression? i work in a shop. there is no 'good jobs' no pats on the back and no memos displaying your productivity. they only talk to us when there is a problem. getting a raise is the only 'good job' i get

im not concerned about 'lifestyle' --see above statement.

yea sure its all nuts and bolts but i love this brand. sad to love a brand maybe...
