Flipped my lid for sure. Total hag at the counter when I rolled by this evening :(
There used to be a super hottie @ the Del Taco but she was always workin' the taco line in the back so I never got to meet her. |
I installed my headset, but not without a fight since Raleigh seems to want to make it difficult to work on bikes. First, I had to cut down the fork crown to fit a standard size crown race. After doing so, I saw that the cutter didn't even touch part of the crown and that explained why the stock headset was such **** to adjust. Not too happy about the direction this was taking, I measured the head tube and sure enough the diameter was not standard. I proceeded to ream and face the head tube. All went smoothly after and I now have a sweet roller bearing headset. I have little experience with headset so I was figuring this stuff out and learning as I went. Damn Raleigh and their use of proprietary sizes

I'm kind of anti-fast food, so I would have to disagree for various reasons. One sure sign about the quality of a place, not just a restaurant, but any shop, is would the owners eat/shop there?

/bleedingheartliberal First major snow of the season that has stuck. About to head up to a friend's bike shop to buy an old winter commuter. I need a bike and want to help him out since I know he's been struggling with the winter season sales. |
Today I will go on the first snow ride of the year! Hey stl guys did you get any snow last night?

Most of it shouldn't even be called food, imo.
|
not even california burritos?
|
you guys have healthier eating habits than the folks over in the 33. How ironic.

For us that ride bikes, we don't really have any problems with that.

Edit: Even though I "supposedly" preach about eating healthy and ****. It's a weakness more powerful than any beer could ever do to me. :( |

Edit: Even though I "supposedly" preach about eating healthy and ****. It's a weakness more powerful than any beer could ever do to me. :( Thats why I don't hold back at all - I eat, drink and (gasp) occasionally inhale various plants with friends and family members whenever the hell I want - it's quite liberating. Of course there is a limit after which too much intoxicants too often will significantly inhibit your cycling performance and your health, but i've already been through that phase. Junk food, however, I may never grow out of. |

There are a few taco trucks around the co-op in the evenings. Several times a week we end up taking the tip money and getting burritos. Lengua burritos http://www.prosportstickers.com/prod...l_2__44365.gif lol I drank coffee half the time on my last century |

i was morbidly obese until i was 15. discovered three things in the same year: skateboards, judo and girls. dumped 100# in a year by getting off my giant ass.
of course not playing D&D for 20hrs every weekend, eating pizza/regular soda/M&M's, didn't hurt either..... at 42 (next week), i am very much a "calories in vs calories out" guy. no excuses, if you're not going to burn it, do not put in face. i cook simple small portions with the freshest local ingredients i can find/afford. that said, biking lets me appreciate beer (didn't drink from '91 to '08) and the occasional donut. |
Yeah genetics would be ass****ing me if I wasn't so active. For me and dieting though, its a pretty simple system: eat when hungry, and stop when satisfied, not when stuffed. Usually, if I eat really late at night, I don't feel the desire to eat much the next day. That and I don't eat too bad. Pretty much no fastfood, I try to get all the important food-groups at least once a day, and replace soda and koolaid with coffee and water.
Today I bought a 70s/80s Shogun 400 for a winter beater. I paid entirely way too much for it, but it felt right and I wanted to help my friend out since I'm sure the winter has been sucking the life out of his sales. It's my first geared road bike and took it out for a ride up to the train to UMSL and signed up for classes. Now I'm a dual major Finance/Philosophy. Who said off days couldn't be productive? |
Old Shoguns are sweet.
|
68 miles today.
|
Very cold, very wet, rain ride today. I feel good/bad about it.
|
Today i finally gave up on tryin' to make any non-cycling specific rain gear work. Time to drop some coin.
