so...... my gf's dad is considering getting a Cervelo S2...... im going to try to convince him to do so..... Cervelo's "Share the Ride" deal ends Jan 31... basically buy two bikes, get 2,000 dollars off. Which means, he gets an S2 for ~2.5k, and i get a free T1..... we'll see how this works.

I decided to bust out the lycra and roadie bike for the first time in over a month. Feels good man. I forget how natural riding feels on that bike, good fit I guess. I head out the beach and rode around the marina to take it easy and see if the rowers were out. Avoided getting hit by a red light runner, rolled by some 1/2 marathon thing (??), and later avoided crashing into a clueless fixie kid.

Today I got in a very frigid road ride.
Had to go the final 25 miles sans water, since the last bottle froze.

Yesterday my ride was through Cali's central valley farmland. I can't imagine riding and having my bottle freeze. You're most certainly a badass.

Another bike, so what does that make the count up to? 200?

yeah... i just got out my cold weather gear... cant find my arm warmers though, and all i have are short sleeve jerseys....
also, my favorite pair of gloves for cycling:
https://www.cabelas.com/outerwear-sal...gloves-1.shtml

20 bucks, really low profile, not bulky at all, i can pick up a dime in them. super wind resistant, and they put up a fight until your in the 10's, then id get something thicker. only complaints are that there isnt any grip on them, just smooth. I solved this with a can of PlastiDip, i simply ran a small trail of the stuff down each finger, and then a few circles on each palm.
get them.

Haha. No I don't think I'll live to see 200, but it brings it up to 22. Actually, I had been wanting a coastie cruiser for a while, and this fits the bill perfectly. The thing is, it has 650c wheels ! In fact, a bunch of the 2012 SE bikes are now offered with 650 wheels in the smallest (43cm) frame size. Also, this effectively lowers the gearing to about 65 gi so it will be easy to do stunts and of course it can bar spin. Stair drops here I come ! It only cost $279, so I can afford to beat on it.

thinking about picking up the Pro PLT bars. anyone have any experience with them? also can't find how big the drop is on the anatomic version

yes I'm bored.
I spent all night trying to go to sleep because I’ve got class all day long then have to work afterwards. I eventually fall asleep at about 7ish am, get up at 9. I showered during my insomnia session, so I walk the dog, make a lunch, pack up my books, laptop, bike stuff, pump up, get dressed and head out.

Too much **** in my backpack and lots of wind, but I get to class in 25 minutes. It’s only a 5.5 mile ride, but there’s a lot of lights and normally traffic getting in my way. Though when I roll up I notice the parking lot is pretty empty. I wonder if this is what campus looks like before 11, since I haven’t had a class that started at 8 since I was a freshman.

I bike through campus, I see a few Asians, but it’s pretty quiet. I get to my building and figure I’ll make an appointment with my adviser since the queue can’t be too long with a campus this empty, but I notice it’s closed and the lights are off.

I’m starting to think I read the date wrong on my schedule, so I pull out my phone and search the academic calendar for UH.

I bike home even faster, somehow I’m covered in sweat in the middle of January, but at least I don’t have to try to stay awake all day during “let’s read over the syllabus day” and had time to write up this stupid post.
