a whiskey buzz is a somber buzz (for me)

Whiskey buzz is my favorite. I'm a beer nerd, but good bourbon and scotch have special places in my heart.

Well, I am not getting the s3x hub, I have a feeling now that something would go horribly wrong with it.

Today was a great road ride, no one tagged along and annoyed me and was able to go to the beat of my own drum. Wrapped the day off with a good street session.

Today went and did some off roading for the first time. It was awesome and now i want a mtb with drops or a cx bike. Then I ate **** on the road at 25+mph

THIS IS WHY YOU WEAR GLOVES WHEN YOU RIDE

My hands were numb after impact and then throbbing like hell for 20 minutes after I regained sensation. At least my palms were not chewed up

Today I finally got back on a FG... turned out really well, and had a scare lol...

So, maiden voyage on the converted track ends. put ~40miles in on it, rock solid. I was impressed.

and the scare I had... remember kids, always use a lock ring...... <__<
i forgot to put the lockring on, haha i was a few block away from my house and started to pack pedal when i was nearing an intersection, heard a noise, and began to coast. walked it home, and got it taken care of... funny stuff.

That is an odd thing to forget to put on. I am surprised you got 40 miles without a lockring.

Eh, I guess the order of happenings got reversed in my post. The cog slipped a few blocks away, went home to fix, rode 40 miles.

Yeah, that would freak me the flip out. I don't even back-pedal that much with the IRD Cantis dialed in as well as I have them.

On a side note: I do have to give Milwaukee cogs a massive +1. I got a thing for Americana and the 19t+lockring I bought off them is smooth.

Its really hard for me to get away from DA... I have thousands of miles on my cog/lockring, and they look brand new. And they're so silent its ridiculous.

Whiskey creeps on me, and then it suddenly hits me and I'm trashed. Makes parties pretty interesting.

entertained my fencing club buddies w/ sirloin steak and chimichurri sauce, then spaghetti w/ oil/peperoncino/garlic/seasoned breadcrumbs.

watched the new "Conan" movie, which was teh'suck.

still getting whispers that i'll be accepted for the investigation/hostage negotiation academy. i'm overqualified, but after a certain point, it gets political....*sigh*....

I think the idea of an s3x.
I've been riding an S3X since October. I like it a lot. There is a bit of lash in the mechanism, so if you're accustomed to riding a well-tuned fixed gear with a snug chain it takes a little getting used to. But it is nice having the gears, particularly in the winter when there's no foliage to block the wind.

Good job to all the riders today. Perfect weather, and we took good advantage.

Also nice to finally get in on the rapha cycle club. Good place to just hang out.

Finally kudos to TheRealFaux for doing those sunset hills on clips and straps. Beast it!

EDIT: Today I considered gearing up. Everyone is blowing by me on those descents!

Yeah, I still can't believe it's February. lolifornia weather.

@TheRealFaux: clipless or bust man, a new world will open.
@redpear: 75gi+ gogo! I see a 48x16 in your future. You can make it up just about any hill in sf and not spin out too much on the descents. 23.5mph @ 100rpm is coolen on the flats, too.

edit: when I say 'hill' I am excluding things like Twin Peaks, O'Shaughnessy, and possibly Legion of Honor. Basically all of the Monday ride, haha.

48x16 is what I'm riding right now.... feels so weird, I've been crunching instead of spinning at 52x16... its a nice change

48x16 is probably too high for me. I have a 15t I could try to get a similar gearing at 46x15, but that's San Diego only. And it's definitely too high for mt. tam I will probably try 46/16 though. Gino's gearing at 50x18 is pretty perfect I think, but I'd rather just get a new cog.

Sorry for the double post, but today I found out how I can start using Strava. I uploaded an old paradise loop ride I recorded using a different WebOS app. I am excited, I get to be one with my peers <3

Today is jimmytango's birthday! I'm throwing a Super Bowl party with an add-on birthday celebration for him. The food list of what people are bringing is insane.

I'm from Buffalo so of course I'm making wings, but there's also gonna be veggie chili, a fried turkey and other fried things (please god don't let my house burn down), pies, cupcakes, birthday cake, homemade pretzels and chips and dips and things, TONS of homebrew... I really should have taken tomorrow off work.
