1.) Its the right thing to do. Less suffering for animals and the environment. I went on a tour of a hog slaughterhouse a few years back andit made me sick. Factory farms are terrible, terrible places and I refuse to support them.
2.) Health. I feel better than I ever have since learning how to eat the right way. I'm faster on two wheels and two feet than before.
3.) Looks. I look better. I do weight training on the side to maintain a decent physique, and I've made more progress on a plant based diet than I ever did on an omni diet. I've actually put on 15 pounds of lean mass since the start of the year. And that's all while averaging 100 miles a week in the saddle.

This. I have mad respect for people that can control their diets on such an intense level. Eventually, if I had the cash flow, I would love to eat vegan just because of how dirty and disgusting the commercial food industry has become. The doc, Food Inc., opened my eyes to a lot of things. I just don't have the means to do anything about it.
The only thing I will say is that I could care less how cruel the animals are treated. I don't like the idea of eating farmed animals simply because of the spread of disease because of their conditions. Please, no one try to convince me that animals have "dignity". Anything that ****s where it stands has no shame. (This is my opinion and I don't look down on anybody else's. This is not meant to be argumentative.)

I was raised poor white trash. Like, Mountain Dew in a baby bottle white trash. I suspect that I never "liked" a lot of foods because I didn't have much exposure to it as a child. Until recently, I ate a ton of fast food, would order the same things at most restaurants, and didn't have a whole lot of variety in my diet.
Now that I'm 30 and still tipping the scales at around 230 lbs despite having a much higher activity level than I've ever had, I'd like to 1) continue to drop weight and get fit, and 2) explore food to discover what I might enjoy now that I'm a grownup. If I have the convenient excuse of going to Wendy's and having a ratburger, then I won't put in the effort to sample new foods and find out what's out there for me.
I'm also a pretty good cook, and the people I've cooked for enjoyed what I made. I'd like to become a better one, and that won't happen without discovering new ingredients and putting them together in the right ways.

Cut out soda altogether (if you haven't already). Years ago, I used to drink Coke like a mother****er and dropped about 10 lbs right away when I decided to knock it off.

people on our CM facebook group constantly ask about buying a Vilano SS bike and I always steer them elsewhere ($300 isn't even that cheap for that pos).
I usually recommend the kilo or something used off CL but this same guy (who owns one) ALWAYS recommends them. He even just said "Thats what I bought 18 months ago. I love it. You will need to replace some things as they go out, bottom bracket, seat, tires, pedals, bars" and "My frame has a crack near the rear dropout. It's never been a problem. I figured if it ever got bigger, I'd weld it."
Anytime you can buy a frame with that cracks (they won't replace them, just 10% discount on new ones) and requires a total overhaul of all the components for $250, you gotta do it.
it's the new place to say 'kilo tt'

Every soccer season I had to cut out soda, and I always did that too. Dropped like 10-15 in the first few weeks. I should probably do that again, and make it stick this time. I've put on like 30 lbs since starting college.

Vilano. Nobody knows what a Kilo is when they're buying Vilanos.
This guy is actually a welder too, which is why it's weird to me he endorses hi ten steel so frequently
And yeah, the page is a disaster. It's always someone asking for bike advice then some ******** who think they're the **** (they consider 12 miles at 15mph a fast ride.. mind you we have no hills) always make fun of them. Though it's somewhat entertaining if I'm bored and it let me know this last months ride had a different meeting location

60 miles with a friend who was on a nice modern geared bike. There were about 15 times where, if I would have kept up my pace, I would have dropped him. Felt strong all the way through. 48x18 gear. Saw zebras, gazelles, camels, got chased by a dog on two different occasions, and got lost in someone's multi-million dollar horse farm. Great day. Time for drunk.

Today I laced up a new rim for my Pake. Now I only need to buy some black Fizik bar tape for all the green to be gone off of my bike. Looks so much better already!

Today I went to the hall of justice to pay my traffic ticket. On the way there I ran into redpear who was still looking for his wallet.

It only gets easier man. I gave up meat (for the second time) last year. This was after five years of living a lacto-ovo-vegetarian lifestyle. When the doctor diagnosed my thyroid being deader than dirt, the moment the meds started working I went back, first to flexiterian and eventually back to full vegetarian. The biggest foil for me to overcome now is Low Carb Monster - ****s addictive as ****.

I never drank soda, except to mix with drinks, but that was only because soda was cheaper than fruit juice. The first full carbonated beverage I ever had was a beer. I am of the opinion that soda is the worst thing you can put in your body, with the exception of cigarettes (guilty). I am so glad my parents never drank it themselves, otherwise I would probably be addicted to that too.
To keep my post relevant, today I found out that my school does not have my study abroad transcript yet. I want my 8 credits of A. If I get shafted out of that, it will have been four grand, and 26 days of my life wasted. Plus opportunity cost. ****.

My hardest cut was probably when my dentist told me how bad sour gummy worms were. Pretty much coating your teeth with battery acid.
They're reserved for special occasions now ;_; and only when I can use mouthwash right after.

Today I put in a good 50 miles, tomorrow's looking like it will be a wet mess of a ride.

My macbook screen is getting a little dodgy, the screen does some weird flashing/distortion after I take it out of my bag, and goes away when I hit the screen... hrm...
