Today I went around my room removing lockrings/cogs from wheels that aren't in use.

Today I went and saw, and subsequently met Henry Rollins. Good night.

Today I visited a few LBS to look at their gumwall tire selections since the wheelset I ordered comes tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be able to try them out on the velodrome this weekend if it doesn't rain.

Not looking too good man. It's like a 90% chance of rain at 9am on Saturday.

I e-mailed Steve to see if they'll still have it though.

This makes me sad.

my girlfriend is going to pull the trigger on a bonktown TERRY it looks like, the 46cm with either the 51cm or 52cm TT (she's used to a 52.5 so that's not a big issue).

Question is, neither one of us are familiar with 650c wheels. Is the fit going to be noticabely better with them? I know we have some small dudes around here so hoping one can chime in.

Also I'm considering a cheap road bike as I've mentioned. Any reason I shouldn't pull the trigger on a cheapo like this?

basically the only sub $800 bike that doesn't make me want to pull my eyes out (black), but I have nfc about "GRAVITY"

Gross.

(Sorry.)

You can generally get a used Lemond Zurich on ebay for ~$800, and that's with a Reynolds 853 frame and full Ultegra, so . . . yea . . .

There are also aluminum frame Lemonds with cheaper components (more comparable to the Gravity) that pop up every once in awhile, if you wanted to save even more money.

Granted, prices may have fluctuated a bit now that spring has officially arrived, and I've stopped following the Lemond prices as carefully after I got myself a titanium bike with Dura Ace. :D

hamfoh 03-23-12 12:33 AM

yeah the problem with my budget and browsing new and used is its pretty slim on the amount of frames that don't make you spit up your food. I guess I kinda liked that due to its simplicity (and hopefully removable decals). Been trying to keep my eye out for some nice used bikes as well. I don't need anything like ultegra so if I go used I'll probably dip into the $300-$400 range

Modern or vintage? C&V has oodles of bikes that are <$300, but if you're not a fan of downtube shifters or heavier steel frames, the search might be a bit more difficult.

According to Misskaz, yes. Her FG has 650s, and her CX bike has 700s. CX gets major toe-overlap. She will chime in, I'm sure.

Also...

The bike in question is on the right. The woody is mine. He has changed gearing and crankset since that quote, but still. This is also the guy that wants to trade me his rear wheel for a post and some $$.

regular lock ring tools are better.

LesterOfPuppets 03-23-12 09:52 AM

Hammer + screwdriver = best evar!

Yesterday, rain bike: coffee generationed.
Today, test run with free McDonald's coffee resulted in coffee cup ejection @ 25 mph. I'd need to eBay some RockShox Ruby road forks to use one of these coffee cup holders.

McD's cups are kinda fatties, though - high center of gravity.
