Strong work. You should be proud of yourself.

45lbs or so. I'd like to lose another 10~15lbs still. It's slowed down a lot.

Damn, dude! That's inspirational!

Also, muscle is more dense than fat, so it weighs more. So, you probably lost more than 45lbs of fat and replaced it with a few lbs of muscle.

Racing will burn off some fat, too.

Thanks a bunch! I never thought to figure that I probably lost a ton more fat than the scale shows. A friend of mine says I should have kept track of inches lost etc.

Yeah, I'm hoping to start racing really soon. Maybe another beginner session or two and I'm just gonna do it. Being on a team helps too, I think we have a Team TT clinic coming up. Even just asking for pointers here and there, or just simply getting motivated.

Awesome. This is what happened to me when I started to get athletic in 12th grade by joining a crew team. 220lb to 180lb.

Hell yeah, will do. Even if climbing doesn't help track racing that much, I'm going to try and up my climbing to 10kft per week. Just to be better at climbing (not for track, but just to be better at it).

You're like 8 feet tall though hairnet :P

I was much more athletic in HS, I'm trying to work back to that at the very least.

jimmytango 04-17-12 05:11 PM

Dude that's awesome! Inspiring me to get into better shape.

prooftheory 04-17-12 05:22 PM

Today I broke a chain about 19 miles into a 22 mile ride, so that makes a 3 mile walk. The chain has only about 1500 miles on it. Get a new one or just replace the busted link?
Also: brakes are good things.
Also: Awesome Jaytron!

Awesome work Jaytron. Now if I could only get my dad riding his bike...

Proof, if one link failed, I would think that the chain as a whole is pretty weakened. It might be worth it to replace for peace of mind alone...

I'm on day two of my latest attempt to quit smoking cigarettes. My plan is to not buy packs, and just bum periodically. I can't go cold turkey, or I'll relapse too fast. Going from a pack a day to ~3 a day has been brutal, but I can already feel the difference in my riding.

jdgesus 04-17-12 06:19 PM

today i borrowed my buddies bike and decided to ride on lawns the rest of the way home

a chain tool might have saved you that walk

youd still want a new chain either way but what if u were 20 miles from home?

prooftheory 04-17-12 06:31 PM

I had a cell but I didn't want to bother the wife and it was a nice day. Replace the chain it is. Thanks for the advice guys.

LesterOfPuppets 04-17-12 07:01 PM

New chains are cheap unless yer fancy.

Today I think I found the best wifi in town. They got $1.00/9oz Pabst/Busch/Rolling Rock, too. I'll never hit a coffee shop again.

I'm so confused. Aren't you one of two or three regular posters that are around 15/16 years old?
