This conversation degraded so fast when I immediately thought the following:
She wants to use my good cog (to my friends on BFSSFG)?!?!?!
He wants to use my other ---------------- (to all her friends at Applebees) ?!?!!??!?!

Let her have the cog mate, let her have it.

Fish craigslist for a caad9 with ultegra or 105. You will not be disappointed.

A cog is a cog, dude.
Not necessarily, depends, if it's made by Spacely's Sprockets or a Cogswell's Cogs ?

It's hard to find decent bikes in my area in my size (Chicago, 61cm)

That's often just a matter of taste. My wife doesn't eat the same foods I do, and vice-versa.

Riding in the rain is not bad to me except when it affects driver visibility and having been tboned by a car i don't really want to relive the experience.

I commuted in a mild but somewhat heavy snowstorm one morning. It was actually kind of nice; I found it surprisingly peaceful, and the temperature was nice and brisk without being horribly cold.

I had nicked the top tube a while ago ..... while cleaning some stuff out in the garage I found a roll of clear 3M wrap I had laying around. So I wrapped the top tube with it, hopefully it'll help.

I feel like it's almost worth it to keep an eye on the Milwaukee craigslist too. I see a lot of tall bikes on there.
