Today I had a good road ride and did my good deed for the month while on the ride. Stopped and helped a guy who had his chain/rear deraillieur go into the spokes of his rear wheel. Cut the chain and rigged it so it was singlespeeded and got the rear wheel trued so that it could be limped back to his car. Then continued on my ride.

Identical to that except it only took down one rider

Ruh roh. Bad news for my wallet.

A friend of mine bought a Brooks saddle today. B17 Narrow. Gorgeous saddle, I really want to splurge on one now...

Today my granpa came to town. Pretty sweet. Brought me some vintage Swchinn Approved Snap On metric wrenches. He also said he'd bring me his vintage Park truing stand. Pretty stoked.

Scrodzilla 05-31-12 10:13 PM

That is awesome.

Nagrom_ 05-31-12 10:14 PM

hell yeah. If you can find a grandpa that used to own a bike shop, get one. They're awesome.

I'd be interested to know how many guys here have family who are/were into cycling. I know My grandfather loves it, and my dad is warmed up to it at this point. I think it rubbed off on me.

Did anyone else here catch the bug from a family member?

Had to snap a few pictures when I was at the Polish market today just so I could torture the carnivores... this is a stone's throw from my house.

You're just the worst! And yes my mouth is watering.

Worst part is how cheap the stuff is.

The prices on some of the Polish dry goods is a little steeper but the deli prices are excellent... there are two shops side by side which brings a little competition.

The fresh sausage is awesome and the neighbouring shop always has my favourite Juniper sausage which is traditionally a holiday item.

Without going farther than a mile I can hit two Polish shops, the Hungarian Deli, Ethiopian shop and butcher (fresh injira every day), Italian Market (Food heaven), Chinese market, East Indian market, and several new African / West Indian grocers.

I live in food heaven.

The brine aged sauerkraut and brine aged pickles are some of the best and anyone who has never tasted the real thing is missing out... besides the health benefits of eating fermented kapusta and ogorki the flavour is like nothing else and it is about $3.00 / lb in bulk.\

That Raspberry / Linden syrup has replaced soda in our house for many years... has no HFCS and for pennies a glass is a great source of vitamin C... and is hella tasty. I will put an ounce in my water bottles and it makes a very refreshing and lightly flavoured drink.

Today my little brother graduated from High School. A little surreal.

Well, I just rode a quick 8 mile round trip to the store to get some sugar free cookies that I'm going to sneak into the 12:01AM showing of Snow White & the Huntsmen in about 20 minutes. Then after the movie I'm gonna come home & get the MTB back out & do another 4 or 5 miles to work off the cookies!

Today I'm celebrating National Doughnut Day in proper fashion.

Oh man, guys look what Prolly just posted. Fixed gear, chick takes off her brakes, can't stop, kinda want to.

Spoonrobot 06-01-12 11:06 AM

If I really liked bagels and someone made an action movie that featured the characters interacting with bagels for the majority of the movie, I'd pay to watch it. Especially since it's the only movie to feature bagels since the late 80s/early 90s.

But we have a $2 theater here. I'll pay $2 to watch pretty much anything.
